I agree ☝️ because when I was relaxed my hair stayed long and beautiful even when I would cut it it would grow back super long super fast. The main things that made me transition to natural is the fact that there’s a claim that relaxers create fibroids and other health concerns, I wanted to see if my hair could be more thicker and with the simple fact that natural hair is just so freakin GORGEOUS 😍😍

There's nothing wrong with relaxers as long as you go to a professional who does it right and you take care of your hair. I haven't had a relaxer touch my hair since 2008, so I can relate to the struggles of natural hair. In my case I did a big chop 😁 I was and still am tempted to relax my hair again. There are a couple of things that I will say about this video: 1. You should never use regular scissors for cutting your hair. Go to the beauty supply store and get shears. They are specially designed for cutting your hair. 2. When doing a relaxer, do the roots last. Your roots are closer to your scalp and are more warm then the ends leading to over processing. That should be the last area you do. Also becareful of putting relaxer on ends that have already been relaxed. You run the risk of over processing which leads to breakage. If you feel like you absolutely have to, I'd suggest using a mild relaxer for only a few minutes...less then 10. Provided you are doing your hair at home. Even so, it's only a suggestion, I don't recommend it. If anything at all look for a reputable stylist with a good track record of doing relaxers the right way. Use Oleplex to rebuild the bonds that were broken when you straighten your hair. Like I said, relaxers aren't bad, it's the technique and after care that causes the problems you hear about. I'm a cosmotogist, so this isn't coming from lack of experience. Other then that, your hair looks beautiful. 😁

Don't know why this was in my recommendations, but I'm not mad, lol. I am natural, and love being natural. But as you can see from my profile, I am color-treated, and that is a bit shunned in the "natural hair community" and we are no longer seen as truly natural, blah blah blah. Anyway, its fun being color-treated and hair is meant to be fun. Its your crown, your hair, so do with it as you please. If later down the years you chose to be natural again, then that's your choice. No one else can make it for you.It is crazy how people really be sitting here pressed trying to tell other people what to do with their hair. All the girls that told me not to color my hair because it will get damaged and ruin my curl pattern, I know they mad. They see me all the time at work, and they still see how healthy and shiny my hair is, and I know they are questioning what went wrong for them when they colored their natural hair, and why it isn't turning out the same way for me. How you care for your hair, matters. What works for you, matters. So do you boo, lol. This was weirdly so relaxing to watch until you pulled out the scissors, and I had to pause, cause I was like "Please don't let her become scissor happy to her own self." Lol.

“Creamy crack” lol!! I died. Girl, dont look back and do you. Be happy and dont let anyone put you down for your choices, as if you were somehow poisoning yourself *eye roll* you are not. It bothers me so much like the “natural” gals look down on us “relaxed” gals lol!! In this time and age, we should be past this. Im mixed with 3C/4A hair, I have relaxed my hair all my life. Ive had periods where my hair was weak and brittle, but that was more due to poor care than anything else (as well as due to the wrong type of relaxer product and products in general for my hair, e.g. getting highlights, everytime I have done this, logically, my hair has suffered, but even then NEVER fell off). A few years ago I finally found the perfect combination of products and steps that works for MY hair, which is now again at mid back length like it was in my early 20s (i am now 30). 1. Ensuring your hair is in optimal condition pre relaxer is crucial: in addition to deep moisturizing every time I wash my hair (once a week), i also do a protein treatment 1 week before relaxing (the wash day before). I use the Aphogee 2 step protein treatment. Girls, this is IT. This has made my hair something else entirely. If you dont follow any other advice, then follow this. 2. I relax every 8 weeks, if you can or want to stretch longer congrats. Me personally, ive found this is the perfect timing for me before my hair starts breaking a bit because of all the texture combos. 2. I am extremely careful to retouch new growth ONLY (i have literally not reapplied relaxer to my ends since the first time I ever relaxed when I was a young teen) and my hair grows FAST. I also protect my ends with conditioner prior to relax as well as my scalp with the Affinity scalp protectant gel. 3. For relaxer, I use the Mizani relaxer sensitive scalp (i get it on Sleekshop, and my grandma does it for me lol, she has got excellent hands for all things haircare and one of the few people I trust with my locks). 4. Right after washing and PH balancing, I do an ACV water wash. Then I do a 30min Olaplex treatment. After that, I deep condition for 30-1hr. I rotate my shampoos and deep conditioners often, but right now I swear by the Shea Moisture Jamaican black castor oil line, it is veeery moisturizing and strengthening for me. 5. It is important to wash hair with lukewarm water ONLY, and even cold water for last rinse. 6. Apply any leave in conditioner that works for you. I have many and rotate them. If applying any heat, apply heat protectant. I swear by the $4.99 Tressemme heat protectant. 7. Usually I let my hair air dry the day and week after a relaxer, and then just do 1 or 2 braids for styling when hair is still damp. This will give me nice curls by next day. 8. I typically blow dry my hair, sectioned, with an air brush by Revlon, this makes my hair bone straight. Since I usually prefer waves, I do those with one of those hair wands at the lowest possible setting, usually 385-400 max. I rarely if ever use a flat iron. Again, heat protect with Tresemne spray before blow dry and heat protect with a heat protectant oil before hot tools. 9. For those of us who already need to color our grays (ah 30sss), do not be afraid of color with relaxed hair, just use common sense: Bleach is not your friend if you relax. Wait 2-3 weeks/washes minimum post relaxer to color your hair.

First of all, you are stunning! I’ve been natural for years now and I’ve been contemplating getting a texturizer for the past few weeks because while I love my natural curly hair I need my time. For some reason, my wash days and styling days take forever. Lol. Love watching videos like this. Thanks for sharing!
@AllAboutAshh4 жыл бұрын
Yess I totally get how you feel! Lol that was a big factor that motivated me to actually relax. A texturizer will definitely make your hair more manageable while still allowing you to have some curls! I think that could be a great option for you

A tip, when I trim my hair, I trim it section by section just like I do when I flat iron my hair. I’m not considering getting a relaxer but being stuck in the house with a 6 week old and not really being able to do my hair has me going crazy cause it’s a hot mess, I need these hair stores to open so I can get braids 😩😩. Also your hair came out nice, and if relaxing your hair is what works for you, that’s all that matters. Right now I’m trying to limit heat to get my hair to grow but my hair isn’t doing well so the only way for me to accomplish that is to start getting braids more frequent.
@AllAboutAshh4 жыл бұрын
Oh okay that’s a good tip! I think when I feel comfortable going to the salon I’m just going to let a professional trim my ends 😂 & honestly when I was natural braids and sew ins made my hair grow sooo much, so I would definitely recommend braiding hour hair up

Beautifully African 1. I have 3 different hair textures. At times it gets frustrating dealing with all three. 2. I feel that I’m doing more damage to my hair in its natural state. 3. I have waist length hair and it takes a lot to maintain it.

I haven't relaxed my hair in over 2 years. I've been doing faux locs and wigs and just started going completely natural as of 3 months ago. I don't even know how to properly style my hair and it just looks like a hot mess after it dries. No matter what I do to it...with that being said, I'm over it and going to try relaxing again 😏

I was wondering why you didn’t start applying the relaxer mid-shaft? The roots process quicker because it’s closer to the scalp.
