@@siddy.g6146 I strongly disagree. The "bottom dweller" have been suffering because of the GOI. Imagine if India self corrected in the 1970's and became a free-market economy. And foreign firms entered India to build factories for the exporting of goods/merchandise. Would the country today have so many struggling,poor farmers. Even now foreign capital is wary of entering India. Let GOI focus on judiciary and law enforcement, some infrastructure. Economic freedom is the path to prosperity. And even if one wants to distribute wealth to the poor a freer economy is richer economy, which has more wealth to distribute.

@@tubelz If that happened, India wouldn't have any domestic companies because none of them would be able to compete with the foreign brands. Then India would have just become an exploited colony again. The biggest issue is that license raj destroyed incentives for local entrepreneurship

@@ym276 Opening up to foreign capital and expertise is huge part why China's is now at the threshold of becoming a high income country. Is China a colony? China had incredibly high tariffs in the 1970's. China cut tariffs dramatically over the next few decades.
