Does the 748cc make any big difference? i heard those 748cc Reliants had a different final drive ratio and different rev ranges.

The 748cc is essential the same as the 848cc but a different throw on the crank. The 748 vans had a 3.54:1 diff so unless you did just town driving it was revving very high on main road driving.
