In his talk, Vincent discusses his own experience growing up gay and Catholic and the struggles that happened as a result of his conflicting identities. He talks about how he overcame the stigma surrounding being an LGBTQ+ Catholic and brings to light ways in which both groups can come together rather than against each other. Vincent Mascarenas is a member of Moreau Catholic's Campus Ministry Leadership Team, Varsity Volleyball, and the Pilipinx Student Association. As a member of Campus Ministry, he believes it’s essential for him to use his platform to speak on his experience as an LGBTQ+ Catholic to other people. He believes that the discussion of the LGBTQ+ community in the context of religion is often overlooked and ignored. He hopes that through his talk people will begin to have open conversations about such topics in order to understand one another and accept each other for who they are. Vincent, I was raised Roman Catholic, but for me I found spirituality that appealed to me in metaphysical and new age religions. If a religion or church isn’t following the golden rule then why be a part of it? People would be more tolerant and accepting if they behaved towards others the way that they wanted to be treated. Jesus was inclusive, tolerant and accepting of people’s differences and status in life. He spoke with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well when Jews were not supposed to socially interact. He ate with tax collectors and sinners. He healed the insane and the Roman centurion’s servant. He associated with the very lowest on the social ladder. Please consider the following words from Rod McKuen, (not an exact quote, but close). "It does not matter who you love or how you love, but that you love. The good in man is God made manifest and loving is the contribution to that good and to that only God. For in the end the act of loving anyone is the act of loving God.”

@@JamesMC04 Undermining the fact that the bible is called "the living word of God" in the book to the Hebrew, and that it does not need added knowledge to be understood. It speaks to all generations of all time, thus, the historical context does not matter. God does not change, and neither does the nature of sin.
