Health food stores have it. Try 16x 1 with 91%. Save that expensive lanolin.

I’ve been using the Redding now for over a decade. It’s made sizing effortless, and the brass comes out much more consistent and uniform out of the sizer.

I have tried plenty of case lubes, for years I have only used Redding Imperial Wax, it's just a pleasure to use, very little is needed and the cases come out perfectly each and every time !!

I've added the Lee Lube, (about the size of a pea per 100 cases), in a plastic bag. Wax based, water soluble. Easy on, easy off. I believe Gunblue 490 showed this method in a video.

Ed Matunas was a well known reloader. He had a book which I bought in 1990 to learn reloading. He was adamant about not lubing the inside of cases. He said it destroyed accuracy. The plastic bag method with Dillon lube where you spray the inside of the bag, and then add the brass and shmush it around works great. It keeps lube away from the inside of the neck.

Gunblue had a great suggestion of tumbling cases with some Lee case lube. It sped up the process for me. Since I'm new to this and don't even have the expertise to test it like you can, it's going to be my way of dealing with it for now.

I’ve been using ISW since I started reloading. No issues. But I’m probably going to switch to One Shot as reloading volume increases. F-Class John is using One Shot, he pointed out that you must clean your dies of any old or other lube prior to switching to One Shot. That seemed to be the key for him. Anyways great video as usual.

Great video brother enjoyed it much,I have been using Hi-Line precision wax,works great for me and the price was very wallet friendly,I have used others but this is what was available at the time and it does the job well.no complaint on the product.

I would have never thought to check if case lube would have an effect on accuracy or SD. I use Hornady unique for normal use, imperial wax for forming, and one-shot for pistol cases. It is amazing all the things you can use as a lube. there is a video out there of a guy using a bunch of stuff like crisco and axle grease.

After sizing my cases I run them again briefly in my wet tumbler with a bit if dish soap. Completely removes all lube for a nice clean/dry case. I don't like the idea of there being any lube residue anywhere near my finished loads.

If I'm building ammo on a progressive, I place the prepped brass on a loading block and cover the brass necks with a piece of 3/4' plywood, then spray the cases with Hornady One Shot. It keeps the lube out of the necks, so eliminates using a Q-tip to clean each piece. Most of my loading is done on a Forster co-ax. I use Imperial for sizing, then wipe it off with a cloth. I then dip the case necks in Redding dry lube and run an expanding mandrel through the case neck. I wipe off the excess dry case lube from the exterior of the neck but don't make any effort to remove the dry lube from the interior of the necks. Makes bullet seating like a hot knife through butter.

Been getting great results with hornady one shot. Puts a thin waxy film on the cases after the alcohol dries off. Isn't sticky, doesn't attract dirt, doesn't gum up the dies, and doesn't foul powder. One can will cover a couple thousand cases.

One can, and I do, use Imperial Sizing Wax for bulk reloading. I dap some of the Imperial in a large, plastic freezer bag, then mist some alcohol in the bag, then rub it around a bit, and finally pour in the cases. Seal the bag, massage them around some to spread the, now more liquid lube, and voila, the cases are lubed. If I want some case lube in the mouths of the cases then I bounce the cases around some in the bag, which stands most of them mouth up, and mist the cases with a pre-mix spray bottle. Works great. Never stick a case, and I get to use what I think is the best lube.

F Class John puts his brass in a gallon zip lock squirts it good with one shot and shakes the bag. Tried it that way and it works great.

The only stuck cases I've ever had was while using Hornady One Shot. Went back to imperial wax.

You need to use enough of the one shot and distribute it eventually. One Shot doesn't literally mean "One Shot" it all depends on how many cases and how well it's distributed. Using hornady dies gives the best results with their lube

I use the FA lanolin lub. Instead of trying to clean the necks out after sizing I just run them back through the wet tumbler with a little car wash & wax, and no media for 30 minutes or so.

It’s funny to see that Redding had to start making Imperial Sizing Die Wax green in color after buying it from the original company. It used to be pretty clear not long ago. I can see greening the tin top up with Redding Green, but did they really have to add coloring to it that was not needed. Probably doesn’t matter any in the least though. On my last tin of the clear.

@cwlongshot is it? We don't know the ratio of lanolin to alcohol, there are different recipes out there, if it were homemade at least we'd know exactly what ratio he was testing, all we know now is what store bought does.

@cwlongshot only been reloading myself a few years and I've seen guys talk about 5 to 1 up to 12 to 1 ratios (alcohol to lanolin) and my experience with lubricants from grenade launching machine guns to tractors says the ratio cannot be inconsequential. If not on the results (which i still think is likely) then at least on how difficult/long it takes to remove the lube from the casing, or how easy it is to over lube (creating those dents in necked cases). However, I'm here to learn and this is my intuition, I've not really played with the ratio much as 10 to 1 has worked for me so far

I fl resize and then wet tumble with ss pins. Saves an extra step of wiping them off after loading, downside is gotta clean the dies regularly. Usually clean them after 200 or so rounds. No issues

Perhaps the only variable is the thickness of the case lube as the case is run up into the sizer die. Slight thicker case lube will make the resized case smaller in Diameter, and create more neck tension.

I have started using Ballistol I ran out of One shot and the store was closed in lockdown so I thought I’d give Ballistol a try , I place a 100 cases in a plastic bag and give them a 2 second spray shake them around and your set to resize clean up is easy as Ballistol is water soluble simply wash or tumble in warm or cold water they come out clean as a whistle , I’ve processed about 5,000 cases this way and never had a case get stuck it works great for me , Has anyone tried this method let me know your thoughts .

A test you could make is put a small amount of powder on a flat surface and put a little bit of lube with it and see if the burn changes

I like One Shot, I just had to spray a little slower than my first go and haven’t had a problem so far on short action cartridges. I still use wax on long action cartridges.

I use ballistol spray with residue water from cleaning them in the sink.. Do a vid about polishing the resizing die, I did my redding with 12k polish and it seems quite smooth.

I use dillon and rcbs. I have never seen a difference between the two. Just personally preference on how many need to be lubed. Got a bunch I go for dillon sprayed in a box rolled around. Then if I only have a couple cases I will reach for the rcbs. J just put a small dot on my finger and apply. No pad it just gets dirty and sticky after time.

If I am making brass from another cartridge, my number one lube is imperial wax. Else take clean brass and place into a Walmart or similar plastic bag and about one teaspoon of coconut oil per fifty pieces of brass. It’s cheap, and you don’t have to worry about toxins getting into your body through your skin. Negative, you will need a towel for your hands.

I can very quickly spray cases down with either one shot or DCL, it is just how well you need to remove the lube. ( You Need to remove any lube) so I really don't see any issue with the DCL, which there are tons of homemade recipes for. I am working on transitioning my process to DCL only when doing large batches anyway.

Made the switch to Imperial a few years ago--still using the original tin. I decap, light tumble with walnut media (lots of grit in FL dirt), anneal, lube and resize, do a final tumble with some NuFinish added, and brush out the necks with a nylon brush. Seems to work for me.

Curious as to whether anyone has used silicone spray as a lubricant for the cases. It's cheap, non-reactive and goes a long way.

Idk why lube would affect group size. Like you said, it just keeps cases from getting stuck in the die. I don't suppose you'd do this again to see if the results are repeatable.

Believe it. Insufficient lube results in too much friction, which prevents the brass from flowing evenly during the resizing process. That in turn introduces runout in the case, which negatively affects your group size. This is covered extensively by Glen Zediker in his book "Handloading for Competition."

Its whatever you prefer. Usually dry tumbling is a little dusty so I am not a fan.

Check out ceramic media. I use normal corn cob or walnut media to do my initial cleaning, i then use ceramic media to clean after annealing and sizing. I do clean after annealing, because ive found that annealing can cause oxidation in the case necks. Anyways. Yea. Ceramic media is the tits. Wont get stuck in primer pockets either.

Another vote for the lanolin method. I do 16x1, using 91% alcohol. Forget all that expensive stuff. If just doing a small batch, go with the wax. One small can of that will last a long time.

I started getting stuck cases (7mm-08) with the lanolin receipe. Even tried Pam cooking spray with better results.

Just plain ol Lee resizing lube for $5.00 and the whole tube will last 5 years for me, and I won't have it sprayed over my workspace or cause my powder charges to change in uniformity. There's just no sense in spending a lot on it. Many thanks for the wealthy data on this subject!

Homemade case lube, Redding > Hornady. I had the worst luck with Hornady case lube.

For this test I was using factory 2nd projectiles so if a flier snuck in I didn't want to blame the case lube. Under normal circumstances I can get this combo to shoot around .6MOA for a 10 shot group.

Dillon case lube has never failed me. The only downside is it's a little too easy to get too much on the case and create dents in the shoulder. Go lighter, move the cases around and let the alcohol dissipate before sizing. One shot sucks and I stopped using it after a few stuck cases.

You didn't distribute it enough. Put your cases (about 200) in a gallon ziplock, give a good 3 second burst, zip it up and slosh the cases around for a good minute or so. Let the alcohol dissipate before sizing. Also use hornady dies, they size nicely with their one shot. No stuck cases as of yet and over 1,000 sized so far

I think I've used most lubes on the market and I always come back to Dillon Case Lube. Easy peasy. That said I've long been tempted to make my own... Two ingredients isn't exactly a huge test.

You really get too busy with some of the tests you do. They make more questions and less in answers. You are spot on with neck tension, however. You want it to be consistent. That is as important as concentricity. One should keep it simple. Dry lube on the inside of a neck should be more consistent. On a dry clean case of course. Enjoyed your video even though it was a bit busy.

The lanolin lubes make the cases and dies very sticky which is ultra annoying… causing debris to stick which makes the work flow unpleasant. The waxes are very nice for sizing with a single press. I can see the Hornady one shot spray being good for bulk/progressive case prep. I have moved cleaning to the second last step, priming last… which is great… let the tumbler take care of the wax and graphite etc. at the end. I see no benefit to cleaning first.

I been asking for it and it happened maybe not the outcome I thought but, I do the dry neck lube a little different, anyways I was watching a interview with “David Tubbs” evidently he loads 90% of his bullets 10tho jammed in the lands and says neck tension doesn’t matter when the bullet is jammed... thought this to be interesting for a world class shooter maybe we been doing it all wrong 😂 🤷‍♂️

I do think neck tension is "less" of a factor, but that's not always possible either.

You have way too many steps in the case prep. I decap, resize, with no expander ball and expand with a mandrel before cleaning. No way for any kind of case lube to effect anything after cleaning it in the stainless media. I do hundreds of cases at a time. 12 steps to prep a case is way too much.

The best lube is no need for lube (Easy boys ). Buy a Lee Colett neck sizing die for about £14.98 -
