FAQ:
- burn time of a log is 2h
- they dry up to 14 days depends on weather
- u can use all materials that can be shredded and will burn ( tree leaves, dry grass, cotton, pine needles, etc.)
- log burns out completely
- i did that just for concept of proving it can be done
- pipe in the middle is for water drainage and for centering the piston

I've been thinking of making a briquette press since we installed a wood fire heater recently. I have acquired a small 24v hydraulic pump and motor assembly and a 4 inch diameter hydraulic ram that should work pretty well to make a few briquettes at a time ( I work in the forklift industry so have access to lots of various 'scrap' materials). I like your design and the end product looks great.

I like it. It's more concise than the original. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I found the original more informative. The new version is great for someone who already understands the process and what's happening. Still, I thank you for not forgetting your promise of a different version to the folks who saw the first one. After all, it has been a while. I was glad to hear from you again. I actually did make a similar unit from a 20 ton shop press from Harbor Freight. It was fun! Thanks again!!

Thanks! I'm really trying. Currently I'm in the process of getting sources for new hydraulic press. I'll keep you all informed on my channel in one of coming videos. Glad to hear my video was helpful. Would love to see your photos or video of it if possible. Thanks again!

Can this type of press still be effective in if "charred coconut fines mixed with a binder" is used instead of soaked paper&sawdust?

Iv just made one mainly saw dust and some soggy soft cardboard , as Iv just picked it up from my wood mold press it’s gone slightly crumbling Will this dry out in time and be solid ? Thanks

hi, great video. just wondering why you have the pipe in the center. Wouldn't a solid brick burn longer?
@Triwiwer
@Triwiwer 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for comment! The pipe is there so it helps drain the water. I found out, that when i didn't have the pipe, logs didn't dry completely. And it serves as a sled for piston. Hope it helped. I'm currently making new version of press. More compact and easier to use.

Great press. I haven't seen your 1st video (I will). How do you get all your 3 logs to come out the same size? Did you do 3 in 1 for a specific reason?
@Triwiwer
@Triwiwer Жыл бұрын
Actually tried making 5 and 6 but the briquette size is such because it fits my furnace perfectly.

Could you add to this mixture some charcoal and then compare the burning time?

It would be a great idea, but currently i don't own this press anymore. I am currently in a process of gathering fonts for a new press assembly.

If you don’t use sawdust because you don’t have any will cardboard just work on its own? Thank you
@Triwiwer
@Triwiwer Жыл бұрын
I think it should work, but be careful because you will probably squeeze lots and lots of paper in one briquet and putting that in to furnace could make a lot of heat at once.
@jkcarroll
@jkcarroll 2 жыл бұрын
It will be easier mixing them if you soak the paper/cardboard in water for a day first, then add to the slurry.
@Triwiwer

Hello. Is this mixture of Sawdust not with smoke?
@Triwiwer
@Triwiwer 2 жыл бұрын
They do not smoke up, if you really dry them nicely. If you don't, there will be a bit of white smoke present. Basically water evaporating.

Planing on making new hydraulic press. Currently Im in a process of getting sources for buying materials. Than there will be 2 part video. First part will be building process and second part how press works and process of making briquettes. And now maybe the third part will be burning briquettes and some info on different materials and techniques. Thanks for your comment and idea!

I'd recommend not to add coloured paper. Those lacquers and colors contain several chemicals which are pure poison when you burn them. Your chimney will thank you too if you get rid of those coloured paper 🙃
