@George Gombas You know, its doesn't pop up that much. Keep in mind that word choice and phrasing changes based on region-- like everywhere else in the world. I will say that in the pacific northwest I can't remember it ever having the connotation of "sick bastard." Typically its used to denote disgust in a lighter tone. Something like, "Oh my god! Did you see Frank blush when Jacqueline raised her hand." "Yeah, what a sicko." Though once again, I think it is far from commonplace.

Lets be honest here: When we started playing dota (be it the original dota 1 or dota 2) PMS really helped melee midlaners lane against the ranged ones or even the melee Pos 1. I remember always building it back in Dota 1 and it helped alot especially when I pick squishy characters hahaha. Man that shield brings back some good memories of HS Dota

I remember OG Aegis of the Immortal in Dota back in 2005. You can assemble the item not obtain it from Roshan. Once you get it you have 6 charges of resurrection and you spawn back in the fountain

@@kusukacolaylowlee1611 Against creep attacks, the chance is only 50% so not really that bad. PMS was created to avoid melee heroes being bullied in laning phase. But since then, the armor changes, the beginning stats change, the HP regen buff for melee heroes and cheaper regeneation items already helped melee heroes so much. That's why PMS was removed to balance out all these buffs.

Iron Talon was such a great item. Back then you could jungle with it on so many heroes. Ogre 1 point in bloodlust enough. Even Warlock Fatal bonds worked with it and you could jungle him

Actually, the necro book is the one I missed. That item usually main item for lycan / beast master because their passive, and it is better option compared to dominator helm. And the Anti Techies item too. The book itself goddamn expensive as support item, since it come with pretty low stats bonuses, idk why these people grieving on that.

I still miss the Poor Man's Shield. That shield came from the start, where you can block 20 damage from enemy heroes by 100 percent, sure to be a powerful early game and mid game item. Necronomicon was too op as if you kill the melee unit, it will deal high damage on you.

I kind of feel ring of aquilla deservea am honorable mention. They brought it back with the neutral items, but there was a period where it was so popular and then it's gone. I think it was wrairhband and ring of basilius. The replacement or equivalent other than the neutral now, is falcon blade. It's a laning item for carry that gives some damage and mana regen.

I remember that at one point you could put Arcane or any +mana items on couriers and give them a mana pool, so if you got fed you could strap a Dagon and Necrobook on the courier and ruin some supports' day.

There was an item in Dota 1 called orb of darkness, that you couldnt see it in the shop, but you could make it anyways if you bought the items. It was like perseverance but violet instead orange.

I still remember back then we had a Poor man's shield as a starting item on every melee heroes, but I didnt get it, I bought 2 ring of protection instead and they mitigated almost the same amount of damage as a PMS. Plus, 2 rings of protection are much cheaper than a PMS and u can upgrade it further ( you may sell one of them)

I miss Necrobook. Used to play it when Dazzle's poison got refreshed by any attack. Just poison some poor dude and send your minions to kill them... You could also farm really fast with Shadow Wave if you and your minions stud in the camps.

100% agree on the PMS. Hotdamn remember when the combo for agi heroes was get a PMS, get a (unerfed) aquila, then complete phase boots? You get like +21 from phase, then plus 10 damage from aquila (+6agi), then another 6 agi from the PMS. You were good to go at level 5.
