The lone remaining Vanderbilt fan walks into a bar with his dog, both of them dressed in Vanderbilt colors. They start watching the game, and as usual, Vanderbilt is getting crushed. Finally, late in the fourth quarter and trailing 49-0, Vanderbilt manages to kick a field goal. The dog barks excitedly, jumps into the air and does a triple backflip before sticking the landing. He then sits down next to the man and resumes watching. "That was incredible!" the bartender says. "What does he do if Vanderbilt scores a touchdown?" "I have no clue," the man replies. "I've only owned him for three years."

James Franklin had Vanderbilt football competitive and respectable.

I miss it man fr we had potential, I remember being at the game beating Tennessee, fans were showing up, we havent had that in 7 years when we started 3-0, now our stadium is opposing color every game and we've not got anything, but we did upgrade the stadium this offseason and we've got a fun sophomore QB along with a top of the SEC CB

On a more serious note, Vanderbilt had a decade of dominance about a century ago. 1921: 7-0-1 1922: 8-0-1 1923: 5-2-1 1924: 6-3-1 1925: 6-3-0 1926: 8-1-0 1927: 8-1-2 1928: 8-2-0 1929: 7-2-0 1930: 8-2-0 Total: 71-16-6, a winning percentage of .796 (all seasons under Dan McGugin)

People never acknowledge this but, when Franklin went to Vanderbilt he took the maryland staff with him. (Franklin worked in maryland 2010)

My grandpa was a fan in the 1940s. Vandy won a National Championship in 1922. I will subscribe. I was at that Elon game.

EAch year I keep a eye on Vandy to see how they do. I was seeing promise after that 2022 Season where they won 5 games compared to 2. But the Transfer Portal took away all their good players and went back to the bottom. Maybe one day they will be back.

Just wait. The time will come eventually.

I've never thought Vanderbilt was a great FOOTBALL SEC team, but they've always been good, if not great at all the otber sports. They're absolutely great at Baseball, and they're starting to be OK in the football SEC way of life haha. I'd bet they're going to be better than Mizzou or MSU in the coming years, so yeah don't quite call Vandy out. They're so much better than a lot of other programs.

With all due to respect, during that time span, Vanderbilt was shy to have a 10-win record for the first time in the history of the school and the sport that its athletics program has had; but not once, but twice. Hence finishing 9-4 on those seasons (being 2012 and 2013).

1948--Grantland Rice wrote at the end of the season that Vanderbilt may have been better than Michigan and Notre Dame as the season closed. After starting 0-2-1, they won their last 8 games by major blowout scores. Georgia refused to play them in the Orange Bowl, so Texas replaced the Commodores. Since 1960, in 63 seasons, Vanderbilt has two years with winning SEC records and more 0 or 1 win conference seasons than all the other SEC schools combined.

No one remembers when Vanderbilt was good. Everyone who was alive during that time is dead.

Vandy was ok because everyone else was beaten up (Florida and Georgia) and Tennessee was in turmoil from the Kiffin debacle. Nice try though!!
