Rest in peace and prosperity to one of the legends of manga and history as a whole. this was my childhood and still to this day my favorite mangaka and manga/anime of all time and will be to the end of time. i grew up watching dragon ball z kai as a kid and never looked back. i watched everything from the og dragon ball all the way to the new movies and manga chapter and have never been disappointed. Akira Toriyama is no question one of the biggest parts of my life and how i became the man i am to day. i wish his family and friends the best as they lost a man so dear to them and to all dragon ball and anime/manga fans alike this is a time for us to come together to mourn a fallen hero. To the father of dragon ball and the mightest warrior Akira Toriyama thank you for everything you've done for me, the dragon ball community, the anime/manga community, and the enite world. you will always be cherished and remebered in our hearts. we love you and everything you did for us and you will never be forgotten

I may have hated on him for coming up with Super, but he still created the legendary show that was my childhood Dragonball was part of my life since i was 4, coming up with Super won't make me forget that, it was the reason both my mind and body are healthier. He was an amazing artist, despite him joking about being lazy all the times. A lot of the plot in the manga happened because he kept trying to find ways to save on linework, just for his art to become more and more detailed every arc. Drawing Dragon Ball in middle school was the start of my decision in becoming an art student in college, and Its also the reason i work out to stay healthy. If it wasn't for him, I would probably never grew an interest for drawing and art as a whole. He, and his work, introduced me to this field; it saved me from a rough place back in middle school... now I've built my whole life around studio arts because of him. Even if i don't make it in the field with how brutal the industry is, i don't regret my choice. I learned so many wonderful things in college, and finally found a direction for the future. This man literally changed my life with his one work. I feel devastated, i slandered him so much for making Super, but I wouldn't be here if my younger self didn't just randomly decided to sketch Goku that one day in middle school. I know know how to make art in multiple mediums, from painting to sculpting. Even if i don't make it in the field i don't regret learning all these wonderful things. Rest in peace king, and thank you for everything. Akira Toriyama, you were the champion. You were number one.

To think that I'm the same age as his son, I can't imagine the pain his family must have felt. We know Toriyama through his work but it feels like losing someone close to us. Dragon Ball has been my childhood and I'll always hold it dear to my heart.

I’ve been a fan watching DragonBall since the age of 4 in 98.. I grew up watching the Latin American Dub and the American dub once I moved to the US. I have so many good memories of watching both. I Haven’t watched anime in a while cause I’ve been busy with other things, but the passing of Toriyama sparked something in me seeing all the tributes and rewatching the live reactions to DBS 130 & 131. I rewatched DB Latin American and then watching DB Kai in English. Finally watched Super and finished on time of the 6 anniversary when it ended (wasn’t intentional either) My love for DB is burning again, just wished it wasn’t because of his death, but here I am once more trying to take in all the things I missed.

Me as well as my dad have been watching Dragonball since we where kids and it had us mesmerized and made most of my childhood just great. I am now 13yo and sad that he passed but glad that he lived a lived legend. REST IN PEACE AKIRA TORIYAMA😞

My first anime was guyver bio boosted armour but i will always be a db fan at heart

On Friday the 8th of March 2024. I was working on Friday Morning, after work I took a few hours to have lunch and walk around my local town. Went home after a good walk and had a few hours of sleeping in the early Friday afternoon. After sleeping without my shirt due to it being a hot day in my area of the world, I went through my shirts and chose a Dragon Ball Z/Super shirt after not wearing it for a few weeks before that day. I went to my local comic book shop, someone told me that my shirt was timely for today. I then was confused and asked them why they said that. They showed me the news using their phone's social media app. One thing about Journey to the West was that we were first exposed to the story via Dragon Ball. There was that Live Action late 70s/early 80s show dubbed into English as Monkey Magic. But for me, it wasn't until that Love Hina episode where they were playing that stage play of Journey to the West at the Beach Restaurant where I noticed the similarities to Dragon Ball and made the connection to that Chinese fairytale.
