Bushwacker, the bucking bull many consider the greatest of all time, calmly laid down yesterday, closed his eyes and passed away.He was 18 years old and had been enjoying the past decade in retirement on Julio Moreno’s ranch in California.Before that, there was of course a truly legendary PBR Brand of Honor career including three world championships (2011, 2013, 2014), 64 buck offs in 66 outs, and the infamous 42-out buckoff streak finally broken by JB Mauney.
He was a smart-ultracompetitive heavyweight. In fact, Julio compared him to Muhammad Ali. He knew he was the greatest, and strutted around the arena as such.Off the dirt, no bull before or since has received as much attention...or relished it as much. The proud chocolate bovine who never met a camera he didn’t like was a mainstream pop culture superstar - certainly the most popular PBR athlete during his reign.
Newsweek likened him to Michael Jordan. ESPN the Magazine made him the first animal featured in their popular “Body” issue. He transcended our sport.In the arena, Bushwacker was king and he lived that way until the end. He will forever be a symbol of strength, power, determination, raw athleticism and greatness. Rest in Peace, Champ

I always loved how he was the consummate professional! Never played dirty in the chute, never tried to maul a bucked off rider and waited patiently at the gate to leave the arena! A true gladiator and a gentleman to boot! I tip my hat to you, you’re truly the king of beasts!

I know no one will ever read this but, I've known nothing about anything this video talks about, but it has given me a huge respect for the sport of bullriding because of the pure respect for the bull they have. its simply amazing and not just humans using an animal. wow the respect and love is insane.

Honestly I want to show this video to everyone who says bull riding is cruel. These animals, Bushwhacker in particular, loves the sport as much as the audience, and hell of a lot more than the riders.

I'm from England and my first intro to bull riding was seeing JB's ride of Bushwacker and loved it ever since RIP Bushwacker truly awesome !!! 🐮❤

His legacy is walking on 4 legs and running in their veins. Bushwhacker’s and JB ‘s names will forever be intertwined. Thirteen times he sat down on Bushwhacker. Lucky 13 by the Dragon Slayer. Bushwhacker knew he was a champion and he basked in his glory. Will we ever see another Bushwhacker? Who knows…..Rest easy big boy❤

I watched all the fathers of these bulls and have some of them as belt buckles because that's how famous they were and it wasn't because they could throw guys off, it was because we all have hearts for animals we call pets and are parents of. They could care less if they are famous as much as the love they deserve from adoring fans. I know Bushwacker crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully and I hope he's kicking some ass up there in the pasture.

Dad rode for the PBR in 93-94 best friends with Ty Murray. He still says this is one of the bulls he would dream about in the early days. A true showmen

I was there that weekend in Tulsa when JB rode him . I dont really follow PBR so I wasn’t aware he’d never been ridden until I watched this video. I reckon I’m a lucky little sh!t.

I was there in 2016 for Bushwacker's final outing, and man, what a show the big guy put on. He was an incredibly big bull, muscular and powerful, but moved like a ninja, a thousand plus pound ninja. Really a sight to behold. It's a miracle anyone ever rode him at all. I hope enjoyed his last peaceful years, truly a magnificent animal and tremendous athlete. RIP Bushwacker, 6/1/2006 - 7/2/2024. Tell Red Rock and Bodacious we miss them, too.
