My brother and I walked there to meet our cousins several times a year. Two of the five of us are gone and I'm 78, Thanks

Loved growing up there!

So sad ! Idora , Geauga, Chippawa, Meyers lake all gone ! Those were the good old days a lot of great memories. We as kids had a lot to do and have fun. And don't forget the drive in movies. Boy where have all the good times gone.

I really miss Idora Park. Went there often in the 1970s.

3/10/17: Yes, IDORAH PARK was the place to go. Thank you for all the memories and making this video. I used to live on Cohassett Drive across the street from Mill Creek Park-- It was a beautiful area.

Wow! You have really done your research! I was fortunate enough to attend Idora Park and, it is now quite Nostalgic! I lived in the Bay area in California for six years in the 70's and never knew there was an Idora Park in Oakland!!! After I post this comment, I will research this! Thank you for the very informative information you have provided. I first learned of Idora Park when my Boy Scout Troop visited Mill Creek Park and I could see the Wildcat... Oh, my! Those were the days!!!

My family went there in the 60s......Meijers lake also.

Loved both coasters. You couldn't ride the wildcat by yourself...I was thrown sideways and hit my head on the padding. Really rough but crazy fun. 😆 🤣 😂

My friend and I did a video class project at Canfield in the mid 80s. Except our subject wasn’t as exciting. It was about sewage treatment plants. Specifically the Struthers plant, toured it and all. Wish I still had the VHS.

The only memory that I can vividly remember from Idora Park was when I was 6 years old. It was 1973, and I watched a girl who was perhaps 2 years older than me, pretending that she was making out with a rusty steel pole with gum on it. You can keep your good memories and whatnot. I think that I missed the 40% of kids that left my grade school because of their father losing their jobs in the mills more. Struthers high school back in the early 1970s used to graduate 700+ kids a year. By the time that I graduated from high school in 1985, there was less than 400.

I heard it I adore a park.

With the loss of population from the loss of the Steel Mills beginning in 1977 would certainly killed the park as well. Youngstown population delcined by about 100,000 people as a result.

Went to shop picnics also.
