This year marks the 20th anniversary of Selena’s passing, and her sister Suzette Quintanilla stops by “The Real” to honor her life and music.

Selena's death & Aaliyah death were two of the saddest deaths in the music industry. Celebrities die every year but none have ever made me cry more than Aaliyah, Michael Jacksons & Selena's. God takes away all of the angels in the music industry.. Why... I wish they would all just come back and perform for us one more time.
@Mm.kay.8 жыл бұрын
Michaels death was the hardest for me. I don't think I've ever been that upset! I was only 5 when Selena died and I remember my parents being shocked and upset. It didn't affect me much because I was too young to understand fully. But now that I look back, it's definitely a sad thing to remember.

Selena had everything: natural beauty and talent, talented family that loved her, a devoted husband that was head-over-heels in love with her (and remains haunted by her ghost to this day), crossover appeal, fashion design career, and a multitude of fans. She had everything but TIME. Yolanda robbed her of even reaching the age of 25, but in death, she achieved a worldwide base of fans from all generations. May her name always echo in the halls of history, from everlasting to everlasting.

Selena's music is DEFINATELY timeless. The music she made in the 90's would not sound "dated" at all now. In fact, it's much better than the artistically-empty, sex-obsessed manure that's being put out by the so-called "artists" out there today, who love their fans' money more than the fans themselves, and lack any real semblence of artistic integrity. In terms of talent, class, and the genuine affection that Selena had for her fans, they'll never even approach being on the same level.

When I watched Selena at the age of 5 or 6 she changed my whole life I felt like I am a Mexican that's proud I can do anything. To this day I think about her. She inspired to become the person that you really are you don't have to act as if you someone your not you don't have to look white to get a husband , you don't have to be African American to look beautiful (no racism at all) but she thought me that I'm a Mexican and you could be amazing no matter what, whenever, whoever. Without her I wouldn't be who I am. Thanks Selena 😌

I was a fan before she was killed. I was looking forward to an English album. Her voice is what caught my attention, even though I didn't know what the hell she was saying, but I could feel it. I still remember where I was and what I was doing when the news broke. I cried so hard. It still saddens me when I think about it or watch the movie. What a timeless talent.

Bidi, bidi, bom-bom loosely translates to: Cada vez (Every time), Cada vez que lo veo pasar (Every time that I see him pass by) Oooo, mi corazon se enloquese (my heart just goes crazy), y me empieza a palpitar (and it starts to throb), (chorus) Biddi, biddi bom bom. Y se emociona (and it gets excited) ya no resona (it makes no sense) No lo puedo controlar (I can't control it) (Repeat chorus) Oooo, Bidi, bidi bom bom.

I'm south Asian so I didn't know what she was saying in her songs that weren't in English but I looooved jammin to them!! She was such an inspiration to EVERYONE, not just one ethnic group. That makes her a music icon!

My heart drops everytime I hear or think about Selena, its just too much. How can she just die and leave us like that, it's like God are you 4real; but let your will be one father, let your will be one. (You know how you get angry at God sometimes LOL)!
@mrsrunmemymoney4979 жыл бұрын
Absolutely!!! That's exactly how I feel. Every time I hear her name and music I get so sad all over again because her life ended way too soon and my heart drops and I feel grief all over again. I will never forget the day she died and Aalliyah died so very sad! They were such beautiful souls. May they both Rest In Sweet Peace 💕💖

Spicy Creole Lady a aliyah was a sad death! But it was nothing like Selena for me! It was the way it happened for Selena! The way she was murdered! I could have took her death a lot better if she died like aaliyah! But the way Selena was murdered was so sad! I just can't let that go!
@mrsrunmemymoney4979 жыл бұрын
Dave Williams So very true I hate those kinds of death where a kind hearted soul gets taken advantage of just for being nice and she had that snake a crazy deranged woman in her side took her life was just so meaningless. Just talking about this makes me sick to my stomach and I wanna cry everytime I talk about it or hear her name. She didn't deserve that. What puzzles me is no one talks to get husband and asks how is he dealing with her being gone. I wonder if he is still living. May her beautiful soul rest in the sweet arms of Jesus in Heaven.

I just watched the movie with my 12 year old daughter. We have both seen it numerous times. We watch it every few months or so, and I always sing all the words to her Spanish songs. I had just told my daughter "Ah! i just love these songs. I know every word! I don't know what I'm saying....... But I know the words!" Lol. And her English songs were some of my favorite songs of all time! My daughter is a huge fan, too. She definitely still continues to be adored generation after generation! *#SelenaLivesOnInUs* *#RIPSelena*

All of Latin America knew the Queen of Tejano music, but not many white or black folks did even though she lived in their own back yard. I was surprised that Madonna knew of her but I suppose cuz she knows spanish & sometimes watches Spanish music shows. So she knew of her.

My mom pregnant at 17. But my mom comes from a southern family and is mexican and just her growing up listening to selena she would bring that musical influence selena had and still has in people today. My two sisters and i are in live with selenas music. The songs amor prohibido and i could make u fall in love are my favorite.
