I was 18 at the time and worked 3rd shift at a large retailer my boss and I were the only ones to show up that night. After our little bit of work was done due to the lack of business that day we watched it show from the store’s front windows. The snow blew sideways all night and I didn’t realize how deep it was till I went to my car! My dad called the Store and told me not to try and make it home…so I drove passed my house to my Girlfriends house…..remember I was 18…my mom wasn’t amused! 😅😂

In 1978 lived in Bennington VT and was a rock drummer. I had my beloved husky Fred. When it started to snow snowflakes bigger than I ever saw in my life my Husky went crazy and had to go outside into the backyard and refused to come inside. My band and I got all drunk & stoned lol and wandered around Bennington that night amazed at the snowfall. You could hold these big snow flakes in your hand. They were huge. It snowed so hard you couldn't see 50 feet down the road. Fred refused to come in that night. When I woke up the next morning i went to bring him in and he was gone. I was heartbroken thought he ran away and started screaming. All of a sudden I saw some movement and his head popped up out of 4 feet of snow. When he poked his head up out of the snow there was like a foot of snow on top of his head lol. Happy as he could be lol. I had a Dodge van than and couldn't see it in the backyard it was just a mountain of snow over it. That was one hell of a blizzard I will never forget. Took Bennington 3 or 4 days to dig out the town. I l love Vermont its a beautiful place.

I was 15 in Cuyahoga Falls and remember. Got up early with mom to listen to the radio announce an endless list of school closing and celebrating, lol. Watch the wind and snow all day.

I will never forget walking off the roof into of our house into the snow with my Dad. We lost power & we, along .with several neighbors stayed at our only neighbor that had gas heat in the basement. (Zanesville). Have lived in Texas since '79...similar incident 2yrs ago...4 days at -5 to 0 and no power!

I was a senior in high school at the time (Dublin, in particular) and we were cooped up in our house for 4 solid days, however, the electricity was ALWAYS on during that entire time (same cannot be said for those folks that had just built houses in Muirfield LOL!!) ! Also, for some strange reason, my mother decided to go grocery shopping the day BEFORE the storm hit (not sure why, as her usual grocery shopping day was always on Saturday), but, thankfully, we had food, water and electricity the entire time of the blizzard! Finally, once it had ended and the sun came out the next day, we discovered 4-6 foot snow drifts surrounding our house that was blocking the front door. My Dad had to crawl through one of the living room windows to get outside and start shoveling snow away from the front door and down the front walk to the driveway and eventually out to the road so we could get our mail, once mail delivery started up again the next day, that is. It was quite a storm, that's for sure!

I remember that storm very well when i was 24 years old and i couldn't drive at all since my car was buried at the time when i was living in Brooklyn, N.Y. The snow plows took forever to come down the block since they didn't have enough of them at the time being short handed as well.

I had a blizzard experience myself! Not this one…I believe it was 2009 or 10! In the thumb of Michigan…where we had plenty of snowdrifts! The normal 1hr ride from my parents home to mine, took 8hrs & I still didn’t make it to my home! I was only wearing a hoodie & knee-high boots, for dress not snow! I had my lil 4lb dog with me! I helped one guy who had no heat in his car, let him warm up in my car & gave him a blanket I had! We decided to follow each other to the closest town! I lost him when he was getting to far behind me. You couldn’t see anything in front of you, the blowing snow totally disorients you! I drove into a snow drift and got stuck, thankfully friends got me out & I stayed at their house for 2 days! Police said you are on your own if you go out & get stuck! EMS & police vehicles were stuck on the sides of the road! It was crazy! That is when I vowed I was moving out of Michigan, to a warmer state! Took another 6yrs but I did it!!!

Mom always told me stories about this. What really made it bad was speculators drove up the cost of LNG sky high. This was part of the reason why they closed the schools for two weeks. But once they did that, dad took vacation time (he had lots of it) and they went with my brother and sisters to Sanibel, FL. Smart move, dad. LOL
