I lived in New York for nine long years. Rude and unpleasant people who tend to treat their fellow men as if they were garbage. However, I reconciled with the United States when the company I worked for transferred me to the city of Dallas. Southern hospitality captivated me. Greetings from Spain 🇪🇦🇪🇺

Yep it's truly sad. All those young men dying in Americas biggest mistake because of bad politics of the time. During the 1920s reunion at Gettysburg both sides actually met and from all accounts were very peaceful towards each other shaking hands and singing songs having a grand old time. After fighting a 4 year war and somehow surviving it I doubt any of them cared about the damn politics. They were just happy to be alive. I wish people could be more decent towards each other even if we have different opinions. I think that's what the soilders of the American Civil War would want us to be about.
@kanscopeichel4912 жыл бұрын
Indeed, but sad so few would even notice what was happening…. You may find this interesting. Cadets from VMI are the only military academy cadets permitted to March with fixed bayonets, because they were the only cadets to fight in any war. About 250 cadets fought in the battle of new market, and about 10 died.

My ancestors were Southern Unionists, which, to them meant, “we do not desire to see our neighbours in the South mistreated, and, therefore, we are not going to take up arms against them; but on the other hand, we are not going to shoot at the flag of our fathers”, but to everyone else just meant that both sides considered them the enemy. I am concerned we are heading towards a similarly devastating division in our country. So much hate and demonization of each other. They weren't kicked...they ran out of ammunition and the Union had a steady supply of fresh immigrants coming into their ports daily...who knew nothing about the war. Lee stated the reason for surrender was due to, "overwhelming numbers and resources". Don't think that the Southerners were anything less than rough and tough... and expert marksmen. My 2nd great grandfather was wearing gray at Wilson's Creek and they kicked yankee ass all over those hills. .Given the state of this nation today...I'm positive if the yanks could see what it would become in 150 years....they'd be wearing gray too.

To be authentic about 25% of those soldier's shouldn't have worn boots or shoes. Stonewall Jackson marched his men 20 miles a day except Sunday during training. The night before Chancellorsville Jackson marched his men about 20 miles at night around the West Flank I believe of the Union Army then spread a attack line of two miles. Then they marched through about 2 miles of forest then ran up hills and fought and chased the Union Army all day long. About 30% we're barefooted. They we're some tough men but they did train for that. The faster you could move men the better your chances. If Stewart would have scouted at Gettysburg and not go the wrong way as he did at Chancellorsville Confederates probably would have won Gettysburg.
@kurtsherrick20664 жыл бұрын
@@wendigoairsoftreenactment9303 It wasn't his fault. He didn't want to attack that position. Picket just followed Orders. He did want to attack from the flank but wasn't allowed to. The jacket prescribed for Infantry use was of the same design for all service men. The design itself depended entirely on the region, time, and the source of fabrics. The Eastern Theater uniform jacket was the Richmond Depot design, with three primary types issued throughout the war. The jacket varied from a cadet gray, piped and trimmed jacket, looking much like a pre-war militia jacket, to the jeans-cloth jacket that was worn out in six months. The materials and uniforms imported from England were also issued to the troops through this facility. The Western and Deep Southern facilities manufactured similar uniforms, being jeans-cloth, dyed with vegetable based grays, that would fade to brown or tan. The typical jackets issued had 5-7 button fronts, with collar and cuff trim that varied from era, region and source, and an outside pocket on occasion. The previous styles were the militia uniforms. These consisted of everything from the more sharp-looking jackets and coats, which resembled the French or Northern Infantry uniforms, to the no-flares "Battle-Shirt", meant for drilling and battles only. The uniform for these militia units varied by each company through a single county or parish, let alone the country itself. The militia uniforms were a menagerie of colors, from Cadet gray, dark blue, and hunter green, to Reds, buffs and gold tones. The other variety of CS Army uniform jackets and coats is the Zouave. This jacket was meant to be loose-fitting and reflect the French-African Zouave units. There were several units to consist of this uniform, including the "Richmond Zouaves", in the 44th Virginia Infantry Regiment, the "Wheat's Tigers", of the 1st Louisiana Special Battalion, and "Coppen's Zouaves", of Louisiana.
@Wojwit67 Жыл бұрын
Maybe viewers will try to see that Confederate uniforms are surprisingly similar to Austrian (the gray ones) and others to French (the gray ones). a soldier in a red cap) from that time. Flags (especially the one with the blue cross of St. Andrew on a white background) of the fleet of one country that the US currently does not like very much.

You’re referring to the Russian naval ensign?
@Wojwit67 Жыл бұрын
@@snipingflute4346 The flag of the entire Russian navy. Symbolism: the blue cross symbolizes the oceans separating the continents. Continents are white in this flag, like a blank sheet of paper, because seas and oceans are important for the navy. And now the symbolism of the flag of the southerners (Dixiland): the red (earth) continents of ONE WORLD are separated by the blue cross of the oceans. The stars symbolize the number of states of the Confederacy and their white color also their innocence - righteousness in the pursuit of freedom.
