Remineralization is a natural process that restores minerals to your tooth enamel, helping to strengthen and protect your teeth.
Use caution against excessive consumption of acidic drinks, which can erode tooth enamel. Such as sparkling water and soda.
The best time of day for remineralizing is in the afternoon when saliva production is at its peak. Saliva is a natural source of minerals and helps to neutralize acids in the mouth, making it an ideal time for promoting remineralization.
You'll have a better understanding of the benefits of remineralizing tooth enamel and the steps you can take to promote healthy teeth and gums.

@dr.elliephillips
@dr.elliephillips 6 ай бұрын
@@Laurel_KayThe fact is, there's a swing between damage and repair of teeth that happens all day long. Every day - when we eat or drink - this creates an hour afterward when minerals leave out teeth and weaken them. When you allow your saliva to coat your teeth - ( in other words when you stop all eating and drinking - even water )- minerals go into teeth and they strengthen/harden The outcome for teeth depends on this: Do you spend more time damaging teeth each day than allowing your saliva to strengthen them? My recommended system of mouth rinsing ( 3 mouth rinses from Walmart) can speed up the strengthening process. Also, I recommend xylitol/ZELLIES mints at the end of meals - as this stops the damage instantly and cuts out an hour of damage after eating - to shorten this time of damage. When you do this - you will be amazed. There is a free downloadable booklet on my website at drEllie.com and more info.

I want to thank you again, the knowledge you are sharing and thoughts on brushing less, stimulating gums, flossing only if “it makes one happy”, XYLITOL, mapping minutes of possible tooth injury, toothbrush storage... they have all turned my life into an exciting and fun time where i do not dread the future of my teeth. Your total mouth care system is very TOTAL because what you teach extends to so many aspects of life. I have been pondering and practising only half of the basics of what you teach until months ago. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom (and your lovely personality), Dr. Phillips. Your book "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye" has given me hope and confidence and has educated me that I can take good care of my teeth into old age. I'm 53 years old, female, and I was beginning to worry because my gums were receding and I couldn't understand WHY. Personally I would have been in a similar situation without the help of Zellies and my Complete Mouth Care System. Experiencing gum disease as we age is a horrible thing - so I am happy to help. I wonder if you have been to my website DrEllie.com to glean even more detailed information about how to select a toothbrush, how to do the gum massage (so important for regrowth of gums) and the exact details of how to use the system. It essential to use the exact products, and little habits - like avoid sipping water - truly matter. My bootcamp has been very helpful to people who have read my books and even though they have a good idea that my system works, the see that when we tweak the details - they get even more gum regeneration and end progressive damage. I hope this helps.

@@CreativelyKia No one is stopping you from eating and drinking as much as you want. It's frequency that can be a problem. You have to calculate how long your teeth are being damaged (the time span) of the damage caused each day vs. The amount of time your teeth are being naturally healed and repaired by UNDILUTED saliva ( yes, those times when you are not eating, sipping or snacking). After every sip - add 1 hour of damage. If you sip again within 20 minutes of the first sip - start the 1 hour clock of damage all over again + the 20 minutes. The secret is to end every meal or snack with xylitol/Zellies. Then don't eat or drink for as close to 60 minutes as you can. This way you reduce the damage time to just while you are eating or drinking - no extra hour of damage. You will love the way your mouth feels and this is great for your body and digestive health too. DrEllie.com for the Complete Mouth Care System.

This is great and I get your problem. Maybe trying first to find a 0.05% sodium fluoride mouth rinse/mouthwash and a plain sodium fluoride toothpaste (without a lot of additives. Ideally without glycerin, and ideally with silica as its main ingredient. Ask a dentist or at a pharmacy for help to locate these products. The cool thing is that xylitol after meals (as you are doing) will work synergistically with a good mouth care program. In other words, using a good toothpaste and mouthwash to clean your teeth x2 daily will work BETTER if you use xylitol during the day, and the effects of the xylitol during the day (that you are noticing) will be enhanced by using good oral care products. My website at DrEllie.com can also teach you more about how this system works in one place - on my video bootcamp. This may be helpful for you also.

@@DG-EditsYTI don't know for sure if bigbrowntabby118 meant this or not, but Dr. Ellie said that the afternoon hours are the best time of the day to let your saliva contact your teeth and gums with no interruption of food or drink because that is the time of day when the saliva has its most healing properties present in it (it's due to the body's natural circadian rhythm that this happens). So fasting during the afternoon would mean you are not introducing any food or drink during that time, and you can get the best benefit from your plain saliva during that time, moreso than any other span of time during a 24-hour day.

@zedddddddddddddddd 9 ай бұрын
Safe side might be using fluoride rather than avoiding it. Need to know _why_ you have spots: fluorosis (too much fluoride) or thinning enamel. If it’s thinning enamel and you reduce fluoride, your teeth will get worse and more chance of decay. There is a lot you can do once you know though. Note: fluorosis occurs during development if overexposed to fluoride as a kid. Most likely from meds, illness, sugary foods, plaque, enamel loss.

I would stick with Dr. Ellie's exact recommendations if I were you, to give your teeth the very best shot for healing that you can. You just won't beat her system with 50 years of experience vs. substituting willy-nilly on your own. Also, she has answered others' questions numerous times about nanohydroxyapatite; she does not recommend it and says it's like a temporary band-aid, and it hasn't ever been approved by the Japanese government despite numerous requests to do so. Finally, it could very well be that what your dentist told you was true that your white spots were caused by fluoride, but keep in mind that there are a number of different types of fluoride, not just one, and most of them are no good; so if your white spots were caused by fluoride, it was most likely the kind that's in tap water or some other damaging kind. The dilute sodium fluoride that is in the products Dr. Ellie recommends is not one of the harmful forms and is in fact beneficial for strengthening and remineralizing teeth.

If this helps you, I have heard Dr. Ellie say that the 2 extremes of the day are about 12 hours apart - when your saliva is the most healing, and when it is the least healing. The least healing time she said is in the early small hours (think like sometime after midnight and on; I don't know how long this time span is really poor), and that's why it's so beneficial to use the whole system right before bed, so it can protect your teeth overnight. The time when your saliva is the most beneficial is about 12 hours from that, which is early afternoon. When she talks about this, she says "afternoon hours" and then clarifies that it is "early afternoon". So it sounds like you could eat/drink around late morning or noon or whatever, and then stop and leave your mouth free for a bunch of hours at least during early- to mid- afternoon. Up to late-afternoon to be on the safe side. That's my take on what she said, anyway. I hope this helps!

The complete answer to help you is to use Dr. Ellie's Complete Mouth Care System. That means all four products that you use together at the sink twice a day, and xylitol used all throughout the day in frequent small doses, at least 5 times a day, but 6-7 times a day is even better. And extremely important is to not eat or drink anything for at least 1-2 hours after each time you either use the protocol at the sink or take xylitol doses. Then your own saliva is able to do remineralization. This total program will help protect and remineralize your teeth.

@dr.elliephillips
@dr.elliephillips 6 ай бұрын
The amount of time for healing needs to OUTWEIGH / BE LONGER THAN the total amount of time that you spend damaging your teeth. Remember that damage from eating starts at the first sip of coffee - until your last bite of toast - and then you need to add an hour for the acidity to dissipate. In other words, if I had a sip at 7 AM and finally finish breakfast at 8AM - then the acidity will continue till 9AM = 2 hours of damage - that will require 2 hours or more of repair. Xylitol/ Zellies at the end of meals - stimulates saliva flow so that this will remove an hour of damage at the end of meals. This can shorten the damage time - and increase the amount of repair. My Complete Mouth Care System routine for tooth care SPEEDS the healing that occurs - so you'll see more benefits during the healing times. drEllie.com My book Mouth Care Comes Clean may interest you as it explains this process in more detail.

Or you can buy a kit from me (and be sure that you have all the exact products that I recommend). This is why I do this shopping for you - because getting one wrong item will mess with the integrity of the system and it may not work so well. Once you need replacement products, you can take a photo of the products with you to the store to match them. Hi! I wanted to get back to you again about this with more info. I just now for the second time ran across Dr. Ellie's other video titled "How to Mineralize Teeth Naturally", where she responded with a really detailed answer where someone else asked about this toothpaste, so I'll copy in her response here: "If you are looking for a natural solution to re-mineralize your teeth, then your own saliva is your best solution! Simply give your teeth and mouth more time to interact with your saliva (which is a solution supersaturated with the same minerals as are touted in this NHA toothpaste). Your saliva/spit is free and we know that it is safe to swallow :). In fact, studies show that nanohydroxyapatite forms a coating on the outside of teeth, and does not penetrate to truly heal defects in teeth (whereas the minerals from saliva do go into the tooth and repair any that are lost). The European Safely commission has not approved NHA as safe yet - and they have been asked to approve this toothpaste for years. I believe that NHA is the latest of a slew of "professionally" recommended products - There was MI paste, Pro-Enamel, Triclosan, Prevident, and Charcoal...and other things that were all the result of focused marketing to dental offices. I have never recommended any of these products because I am a sales person for our own free naturally produced saliva. I do not recommended NHA. As for fluoride fears , this topic is complicated, but both fluoride and NHA are basically "band-aids" to help fix dental problems after they have occurred. I am more interested in balancing the underlying problems that cause cavities and gum damage and disease. This not only stops the progression, but it will cause repair and regeneration that continues - now and for the rest of your life!"

Hi Dr. Ellie. posting this again in hopes you will give feedback. Thank you! I am in my 60s. Years ago three dentists told me that I had bad gum disease and cavities. I brushed and flossed with bar soap instead of toothpaste every day for two years and when I returned, they said no gum, disease, and no cavities. They said they had never seen anything like it and that my teeth look like they were cleaned a week ago. Do you think it’s because of the alkalinity of the soap? The only thing is my teeth are not very white. Can you comment on the soap and will your program help me at this point with regaining whiteness? They are a bit translucent because I think I over whitened them in my 30s.

Hey there, was it any particular type of bar soap that you had used?, And of which brand? Also, how much of the soap did you use in your mouth while brushing, and did you try rinsing/washing out all of the soap residue and bad taste after, or did you leave some of the soap residue still in your mouth after brushing? if you haven't already, would you mind making a quick video to show off your method?

I cannot comment on this. I don't randomly critique other people's ideas about what "they" "think" may work because it worked for them. There are a lot of reasons for dental problems - and there is a biochemistry that helps explain this. I have written about this in my books. The system of care that I recommend deals with the underlying basis for oral health - so everyone who uses it has the same result - gum disease goes away and cavities heal. In other words -the oral health of their mouth is stabilized - and will say this way for 50 years. This is why I wrote books and teach this strategy. A strategy that balances mouth health. DrEllie.com I'd recommend you try this strategy and then you can compare what you did before with the results you will get. Just don't mix and match the ideas. Dive into my program and see what happens. I am betting you will love the results!

@Luke I used plain old bar soap from the dollar tree. Nothing fancy. No “magical” routine. scrubbed it on the toothbrush and brushed. Tasted pretty bad at first. I think, mostly psychological. There’s a reason why mothers used to wash their kids mouth with soap! LOL. I just rinsed a lot and no big deal. You get used to it fast. You don’t need to scrub I don’t think it’s a good idea to ever scrub your teeth. But I have read that Regular toothpaste has additives like glycerin that coat the teeth. Sure there is fluoride, which is great, but the whole point is to remineralize the teeth- if they have a coating that’s not happening. The first time I used the soap it felt like I had just gotten my teeth cleaned at the dentist. much cleaner feeling than after brushing with toothpaste. I floss with it also so the soap gets up into the gums real well. I let work its cleaning magic. I don’t leave it in. I rinse it right out. I don’t see the point of leaving it in if the teeth are already clean. Then my saliva can get to work with the minerals. If acid in the mouth is the demon, according to every dental professional, it stands to reason that alkalinity i.e. soap would be the perfect counterbalance. But I’m no dentist and no chemist, and I don’t know if the soap might be harmful over time to good bacteria in the mouth. I will say this- what dentist, even if they believed this to be effective, would tell you, if it meant you could heal your teeth and gums for pennies a year and no longer need to visit them!

If you can't afford dentistry - and the best idea anyway is to take steps to stop and prevent "cavity disease" in your mouth. It is bacteria that cause cavities - but sugar feeds them and causes them to multiply. The most important step is to keep ALL eating and drinking to mealtimes - and end each meal with a tooth protective food (something non-sweet like cheese or avocado) or some xylitol/Zellies. Then go to my website DrEllie.com and download the free booklet about the Complete Mouth Care System. You can purchase the necessary products easily in the US or find equivalents. Together these changes should stop the damage and hopefully reverse your sensitivity in about a week.

Water is acidic?
@dr.elliephillips
@dr.elliephillips Жыл бұрын
The acidity (pH) of water varies with each city or well /supply - and the pH of the supply can also vary seasonally if you are using tap water. New York water used to generally test acidic (pH 6) whereas San Antonio water was alkaline (pH 7.5). Bottled waters also vary and many are acidic (Dasani) whereas Fiji and Evian are a pH 7.4. Now this should not really be a focus, because it does not matter if you eat and drink acidic things at mealtimes. We can eat acidic foods at meals and it will be perfectly OK....especially if we end with a little xylitol/Zellies mints to quickly balance the pH of the mouth to a safe level. This swing in pH is good for tooth health - so don't try and eliminate acidic foods and drinks - that is not the approach I recommend because it is impossible :)

@@MasaFinnI'm sorry, but that information is completely incorrect; you must not have listened to a lot of Dr. Ellie's info yet. A whole lot of plain water IS acidic depending on the brand or source, and Dr. Ellie recommends to NEVER sip water throughout the day. She says to try to keep it to mealtimes. But if you do drink water at any other time outside of mealtimes, then just make sure to take xylitol or a Zellie's xylitol mint right after you drink the water to counteract the acidity and increase your flow of saliva, then do not eat or drink anything else for at least 1-2 hours afterward. She also said "It’s not that water will damage your teeth or the biofilm but it will dilute and thin your natural saliva - the ideal liquid that improves mouth health." It's the thinning out of your saliva that water does (which will set your progress back) that is the main reason why she says not to sip water throughout the day.

@@chinazanwokolo4212I used to brush my teeth with bar soap, which was Dr. Bronner's castile bar soap. I used either the unscented, or else the peppermint version. I felt that it worked great, was safe, and did not seem to do me any damage, but bar soap can definitely allow your teeth to yellow because it just isn't abrasive to be able to "scrub" stuff off the teeth. My teeth kept stains while I used it. Now, I would not use bar soap again on my teeth, because it simply isn't necessary. I do still use it, however, on orthodontic retainers, and it is great for that. Dr. Ellie's system should help you with whiteness; the way that works is that your mouth health should heal and improve and your teeth should strengthen from using the products she recommends (using the entire system), and when your oral health improves like that, teeth naturally whiten.

In order for the saliva to be able to remineralize your teeth, you have to improve your mouth conditions so that it can. In regular acidic conditions, your saliva won't be able to do this. One purpose of the products (and this is only one small thing; the products do many various jobs in the mouth) is to correct the acidic pH from foods and drink.

Even a broken tooth can degenerate even more or it can stop degenerating and start to get stronger. The problem for you is that what happens to one tooth will eventually occur elsewhere in your mouth - just give it a few years. The great news is that my program will stop all the destruction and turn your entire mouth health around. I hope you will at least try a 30 day trial experiment. It could change your dental life!

@@holybasil7495 Our saliva has all the minerals necessary to heal teeth. Think about how much time you give your saliva to interact with these damaged teeth - undiluted by sipping water. Have you ever tried eating a xylitol mint or gum ( like Zellies) at the end of your meals - then don’t eat or drink anything for 30-60 minutes? That’s one part of my program.

@@dr.elliephillips my teeth have fluorosis and a i have a small part of teeth enamel eroded, do you think I can restore that part back again, by doing this?

@@Linzach7862 If your teeth have fluorosis then the enamel has not formed properly and is likely very weak. I would definitely suggest my Complete Mouth Care System - and it may take 6-9 months, but whatever happens, you will strengthen your teeth with this method. DrEllie.com for free booklet and more information about this system.

I'm sorry but this just sounds dumb how am I supposed to sit there and "give my teeth more saliva" there's saliva in your mouth 24/7 even when you sleep. If you're having serious Dental issues go see a professional. Take everything you hear from the internet with a grain of salt or you might end up with no teeth at all!

John 3:7-Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:16-For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ✝️🙏🏼🤍
