After dropping my Remington 7600 into a puddle of slush during our second hunting trip this year with her, it is necessary for an almost complete takedown and disassembly.
The moral of the story is: avoid dropping your rifle into slush puddles!
This is a good video for guys who want to replace their pump action o-ring, and thought they could not do it themselves

To prevent rust on rifle before season wipe all steel down with alcohol apply favorite car paste wax on steel and wood just not in checkering and water snow rolls off like a ducks back nobody wipes thier cars down with oil try it you will be satisfied enjoyed your video love the 7600

Im back...1 year later, and my 760 Game Master ive had sense like 2004 it was a 18 inch, but we cut it down to a carbine, i was 12 then when i got it im now 33 and its never been fully stripped to clean, ive had it in Rain, Ice, snow storms, ive pulled small twigs out of receiver, but i bet she is DIRTY in those places you get to on your 7600, but with that being said, IT'S NEVER FAILED ME ...EVER!

Have one 3006 have never taken it all the way down for full cleaning but it's working like a champ--I've had my 06 for well over 25 years ❤

I love my Remington 7600 30.06 I'm nearly 39 years old got mine when I was around 16 or 17 it has never let me down!!!

Big help! I was actually thinking about getting rid of my 7600 (270win) because I just couldn't stand the rattle. But after watching this video I think I'm going to try and fix it. Thank you!

David Drake install complete! New Oring installed, everything lubed/oiled up. The gun now operates better than the day I brought it home! Will follow up after a visit to the range. Thank you again for making this video, it helped a ton!!

Bent my slides when I was a kid. My pump rattled loudly because of it. I took mine apart a couple years ago and kept bending the slides back out and tested. I have them a little to tight now so I have to rack it with authority but the pump is rock solid now with zero rattling.

I can tell you after bending the slides back it was a major challenge to get them back onto the bolt.

The bluing on theses old guns are the mist beautiful works of art in my opinion. They are not very weather resistant tho. If I bought a rifle like this,I would keep her as a save queen. Some guns are just too darn pretty to drag through the marsh.

Thanks for the video! I hope you didn't shorten the barrel. I bought the 18.5" barrel version back in 2002, and it has been my only hunting rifle. I like the gun, it is a good deer rifle, but after the first couple shots it loses accuracy due to the heating of the barrel. I used to have a full size .243 7600, that was very accurate.

Think you probably have a different issue , harmonics maybe..? I chopped my original 7600 in 30-06 to 16.5" and it shoots better then ever.

after watching the whole video you didn't show us how you cleaned the rust off ? you did a really great job. I have this gun myself and thus is liable to the same detrimental environmental conditions and I was curious to see how you got it restored so well.

I have the exact rifle, i can not pull the trigger with a bullit in the chamber, all seems clean and mine is a model 7600 270 caliber. Also i can pull the trigger with an empty chamber?? Weird i know but iam looking for some input?? Ok ive done some tearing down, found rust on tje tube holding the oring, alls been cleared up and greased. Now all seems to be good,i will be trying it this weekend, i will let yous know👍

Does Remington make or have plans to make the 7600 in Stainless steel and Synthetic? I have a friend who takes his pump .270 Bear hunting and loves it

They offer 7600 in factory cerakoted finishes mostly in 35 Whelen caliber, check out www.GriceGunShop .com Pas largest gun store. They did make a stainless weathermaster version but are hard to find.

I've always heard you can swap the stock out for a shotgun stock. Not sure if 20 or 12 gauge, but would you know if this is the case? It would be cool just for the option to do so, because there are tons of configiragions for the shotgun stocks.

Don't know about that but you can get a timney trigger for it that was designed for the 870, nice crisp 2 lb trigger pull.

How reliable is this? How durable is action firing a lot of hot ammo like the buffalo bore 30-06 supercharged 180 grain?

Alex xeon well considering that this is a 308 caliber rifle I think the 30 ought 6 hot loads would be a bit of a problem LOL

David Drake You do realize that this rifle also comes in 30-06 right? And this guy was simply asking your opinion on its reliability applied to the caliber He is interested in? And lastly the reason He asked you is because you have a firearms youtube channel so one would assume you would have some knowledge in that department?
