Finding a remote job in Thailand is not realistic for the average Westerner. But finding an 80k a year remote job in the west is somewhat realistic. The issue is that just because it's remote doesn't mean there aren't certain times to work. And those times are often between 11pm and 7am US west coast time (PST) which means you sleep during the day and miss out on having fun

Great video Chris. I would like to see a lot more videos like this. Also, you have made so many videos it can be hard to find a recent video on a subject. I recommend every six months to one year put out a summary video of moving to Thailand subjects. Maybe a 15 to to 20 min video where you would spend two minutes talking about getting heath insurance, go here and provide a link to your latest video. Want to get a drivers license, go here for info. Want to rent a place, go here and a link to your latest video. But all your subjects can get stale with time. So it would be nice to have a summary video every six months to a year. Great work and always love the content.

I love being a retiree in Thailand. One of my first thoughts when I came here was , “ I can’t imagine working in Thailand”. The whole Thailand vibe doesn’t mesh with concentrating on work. @@seanfrancis7101 $4,000/month is 147,000 baht/month. That will be more than enough to live almost anywhere in Thailand. For example, I had a 50 square meter condo in central Bangkok with a rent of 25,000 baht/month ($680). It would be good to have $100,000 in savings.

Hey Chris, great video as usual, but highly specialized. Nothing wrong with that since so many think they can come here and live as a digital nomad, remote worker, or KZfaqr. I am curious about other non-tech jobs that might be available for expats. Of course there are teaching jobs galore, or the wanna-be bar owner or real-estate tycoon. I have seen an occasional expat in some hotels and resorts. How about NGO's and other charity organizations? How does one find a position with them? Perhaps you can explore some of the lesser-known job possibilities are available to expats. While you are at it, you might want to get into jobs that expats are not usually allowed to hold in Thailand.

Another great video thanks Chris. Is there any further development with the new Tax laws? We looked at Condo’s for sale in our recent trip. Is moving money to Thailand to purchase a Condo possible without getting taxed on the money. Our concern is if we decided to lease the Condo we would become a tax resident, and maybe be taxed on money brought into the country to purchase the Condo. In our case the money would come from the sale of assets in our home country, in which there is no capital gain tax.

Hi Chris, I hope you're doing well. I've been a follower of your channel for some years and always enjoy your content. I recently watched your latest video about finding remote jobs in Thailand, which I found very helpful for many people. However, my situation is a bit different, and I'd like to propose an idea for a video that I think might be interesting for other followers as well. Although I've visited Thailand several times and feel quite comfortable moving around there, my goal is to permanently move there in the next few years. I'm not looking for a traditional job; instead, I'm interested in finding other entrepreneurs with business ideas who want to start them in Thailand. I have the experience and the necessary capital to invest in promising projects, but from my home country, it's difficult to find people with the same aspirations. Do you know of any sites or platforms where I can find other entrepreneurs interested in starting businesses in Thailand? I think many of your followers could benefit from this information as well. If you could make a video about this or give me some guidance, I would be very grateful. I hope you can consider my suggestion and that it can be useful for you and others in the community. Thank you for all the content you share and for your dedication. Best regards

He says your income would have to be quite high to be in the higher tax brackets but you only have to be over 54 thousand US dollars to get to 30 percent. That is much much higher tax vs the US at the same income levels. Understandable considering normal income levels over there but if you are making US level income you're gonna be paying higher taxes in Thailand it would seem. I'd also love to get confirmation that the tax brackets are handled the same was as in the USA. Meaning only the money that is in a given bracket is taxed at it's respective rate. For example, if I made 60000 US dollars there, that would put me in the 30% bracket. In the US, only the money that is in that bracket is taxed at that rate. Not the whole 60000. I'm guessing it's the same but this is an important thing to confirm. If the whole thing is taxed at that 30% then that is way way higher a rate. This isn't to say that the lower cost of living couldn't still offset that but it at least closes the gap on the cost of living difference. Thanks for the video. I do like these types of videos. I'm really anxious to see a follow up video regarding how the new tax law affects expats simply bringing money to Thailand or even just using Foreign credit cards. Though I'm guessing to really know how it is working, we'll need to wait for tax time next year.

Would love to learn more about these groups(other then IT related roles) that companies are hiring Expats in Thailand for. Especially if they are not reducing your income to Thai pay rates just because you are living there. Even igloo is saying to customers they are trying to attract that they have to pay less for labor for Expats then working remote in our home countries so we are losing value by using them versus a overseas coming paying us what we used to be payed back home.

Would I be correct in making the assumption that "because Thailand is a developing country and everything is new", that living in a condo/apartment in Bangkok, or any other major city, one could expect access to running water, electricity, and air conditioning 24/7, and that interruptions of service would be a rare occurrence, as in the probability of maybe once every ten years, or so? Here in Thailand we grew up in Buddhist culture which difference from any country else in this world. It's impossible to say when some area in Thailand becomes popular with foreigners it won't change anything. People bring their way their culture from their country here around my house. I wish the atmosphere was the same. I hope Thailand is still the country that fully conservative not much foreigners move around. Thais increasingly concern about this not just me. I do not want to see huge amounts of foreigners change my town my district my province. Many Thais started too feel uncomfortable watching recommendations to move to Thailand etc., I will be honest here Thais now feel uncomfortable with foreigners move in but we always welcome tourists.

There is not too much to say about it until a lot more clarity comes about in terms of how Thai government chooses to enforce this very vague change in their tax law. It could potentially hammer expats, but from what I've read the law is mostly meant to capture more income from their citizen base. I'm worried about this too as my original plan was to move to Thailand in 2025. I don't think we will get more clarity about how they enforce this law until 2025 though. My plan is to not open up local Thai bank account but use Wise and extract money from ATM as needed. Yes a retirement VISA requires having a local Thai bank account, but I've read VISA agents can help one navigate around that requirement.
