This video is a demonstration of installing our squaredrop camper pod onto the utility trailer. This is a pretty unique design that I found from another KZfaqr. I had to try it for myself and we love it!! Enjoy!

Nice idea for the slide in camper part. Some one on the Tear Drop and Tiny Travel trailer forums ( TNTTT ) did one like that. His had some long rectangle boxes and wheeled trailer jacks that would bolt to the side of his camper. Front one stuck out a bit to clear the wheels. He just rolled it to and over the trailer and them lowered it with the 4 jacks. He would unbolt the legs and use 4 pins to hold down the camper and he was on his way. His was all so Orange in color lol .

Nice video and now I'm thinking of doing with aluminium steel framing with 6mm thickness plywood and then going to put fibreglass outside walls and willing using different colour pvc sheets to make it more standout the way without feeling any cold airs coming through any gaps and willing bring it up with without using petrol generators so got better solution to use free power without plug onto house or accommodation it's saves money lot best ways to keep it safe touring

Absolutely a great concept. I've wondered for years why some rv builder didn't jump on the idea of a camper to put on a trailer. Bet you could sell this idea in a heartbeat. Wish I had the expertise to build one ((plus the equipment etc). I have a 16 ft tandem wheel trailer that I would love to put one on. Kudos to you for your ingenuity.

Thanks Nancy! I had been thinking of something like this for a while. For us, we don’t camp a lot, say average 15-20 nights a year, and we just couldn’t justify a full blown RV for that much time. That said, my wife and I definitely wanted a nicer spot to sleep than a tent. We already had the utility trailer, as most folks do, so this idea was born. There’s one other fella on KZfaq that had something like this when I thought of it. I contacted him and asked pros and cons and then got to work.

I also have a tandem axle car trailer that I've often thought about building a removable camper body to slide on, or off. It could be a 'toy hauler' style camper with a place in the rear to put a couple of ATV's, a golf cart, or a touring motorcycle into. The possibilities would be endless with 'slide on & off' accessories. Maybe a self contained dump trailer? A livestock type of body? V-bunks and rollers for a boat? I've seen a guy who put a plywood utility deck on top of his boat trailer to use for the summer while the boat was in a rented slip.

Absolutely love your idea and your camper. If I can without insulting you, offer you a separate idea from your turnbuckles? Have you ever considered welding another receiver on the back of that trailer and then forming a “u” type plug to go in both receivers and just pin them? that way you could use a locking pin and your camper would be locked from the back onto the trailer. Just a suggestion I thought of when I saw that receiver underneath your camper at the rear. This way you wouldn’t have to get down on the ground do the turnbuckle thing.

Not the first execution of this concept I've seen but yours is terrific and it is simple. Love the modularity of it. Two trailers in one. One point of concern, although your arm is exposed to potential danger only very briefly, is when you run the short sling over the squaredrop steel brace. You've more than likely made allowances for this (like resting the front of the camper body on the tail of the flat trailer) but from where we sit it's a tad sketchy. Otherwise! you have a great rig. Love your shop, love your channel name. God bless you and yours. Safe travels.

You are correct, the pod sits on the back of the trailer at that point. Additionally, I’ve since added a steel eye hook to where I can simply hook the winch cable directly, faster, safer. Thanks for watching!

I really appreciate you sharing your video and design. I noticed as with my own trailer frame that I'm designing a camper pod for, you have some stake pockets too. This is slick - nice to see someone who thinks like me. I have a dandy 5x8 (with a 5x4 ramp) homemade utility trailer that I want to keep as a utility trailer, so being able to remove the pod is my idea too! The deck is expanded steel, so I'm not sure skids would be the way to go for my application. Oh and, anyone who says "must be nice" to have the things you have, obviously doesn't possess the drive to hustle and grind for the things they want!

Have you considered a dado groove in the skids and casters that have maybe 1/4 inch exposure, for it to roll forwards and backwards on and off the trailer? With the sturdy tie downs it should change anything except air gap under the skids and keep that dry. Then you wouldn’t need a winch..

I have a small 12 ft by 5.5 ft with a 6.5 ft ceiling cabin on 3 rows of 4 x4 green treat and I have a metal bar similar to yours there but i also have one in the back and down the middle , I ran 2, 12 ft 3/8 in log chain. so when I do winch and yes I winch with a motor, lolol, on and off the pull is equal from front and back. , 90 % of the time i just leave it on the trailer but i have also drug it across fields before during deer season with the truck and it works just fine.... However, my floor, 12 x 5.5 is almost 800 lbs with wall and ceiling weight about 400 lbs. i built the floor stupid over kill just for this pull around the fields and keeping low center of gravity. lets just say, there is no flex and i mean no flex at all in the flooring. and if i level it in the field, i just use my handy man jack and block or shim accordingly, i love the thing. works very well. its also 100% off grid.
