I figured out a way to quickly and easily remove the pulse vacuum hub on my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 front hub assembly without damaging it, and without using the special Ford tools that the repair manuals call for.
All you need is a small screwdriver, a pair of needle nose pliers, and some thin gauge metal wire. Only took me about 4 minutes to remove the hub.
It occurred to me later, after I recorded this video, that you could probably use heavy duty staples (for a staple gun, not a desk stapler) instead of wire. Either one should work fine.
