Just changed mine. Thanks short simple accurate and to the point well done. Note if yours is crumbling have a good set of multi- vise grips or stilsons/ pipe wrench on hand. My 308 was brittle so knob head tore of completely , had to use grips to remove. Insert also stayed on shaft.

I got 207 but gear knob is same I think but problem is that it's falling off after a while it happens while driving especially when putting in reverse that knob end up in my hand. Don't know should I glue it or what.

how to do when you only have the new knob, but not the leather "dress". How do you attach new knob to the old "dress" ?

I was able to install the new one on the old yellow plastic but while the plastic stays on the metal I can easily pull off the knob from the yellow thing did i do something wrong?

This is worst idea, you should cut the old knob from gear liver and replace with new one or else that plastic will get damaged for sure especially for old vehicles
