I could not get the cable to pull out of the power window switch. but once I got all the other cables loose I was able to unscrew the 3 screws holding the power window switch, wrestle with the 19-year-old tab that was holding the cable into the switch, and replace the switch. The Switch Doctor on Amazon had a perfect replacement switch for my 2003 4Runner 4.7L AWD. A Toyota dealer quoted me $1,000 to replace the switch and I replaced it for $28 and about an hour of work. I'm 66 yo retired lady with no automotive repair skills at all, and I really appreciate that you share your knowledge. Thank you.

Thanks for the video. I found the bolt under the armrest and assumed the other may be behind that inner handle cover, but wanted to be sure. It was extremely easy. I had the panel out and broken mirror off within 10 minutes. Since I was just installing a mirror, there was no need to remove anything more. I attached a 24" bungee cord from the top of my door to the panel, just to hold it in place. To put the panel back on, I started sliding from the top to get started, then I used a mallet to bump into place, a flashlight to make sure the studs aligned with the holes, then pressed from top to bottom until all secure.

On most models, the window/mirror/lock module can be removed without taking the door apart. On the 2006 4Runner it screws in from the back. This video saved me a lot of time and potential damage.

The door panel tool or a flat plastic upholstery tool not only does not gouge paint but also does not gouge the plastic. They are inexpensive. I keep 3-4 sizes handy.

Screw driver to pop the panel isn’t needed if you go on the right side of the panel there’s a lip just grab it and give it a good pull and it’ll pop. Love, the little tinter boy.

Heya. I have a 2006 Toyota 4runner with 275k miles on the chassis and frame, and 171k on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain (2007 parts). My engine has the check engine light, VSC Off, VSC TRAC, and traction control light lit up like a Christmas tree on my dash. Also, at very low speeds and at low throttle, this sound from exhaust (I don't know if my cats are shot) is like a high-pitched rattling sound, NOT like a rock bouncing around on youtube videos you'd look up online about shot cats. My O2 sensors are all new and have been replaced WITH spacers on them. I took my car to the local automotive shop, they said to fix this they would need to mess with the exhaust, put new O2 sensors on and take the spacers off, then diagnose from there to see what's wrong. It's going to be expensive from them... I also am wanting to do this myself... I have a mechanic friend that told me that my cats need to be replaced but I'm not so sure it's the problem just yet... Any suggestions?

How do I remove the door panel if the manual door lock (from the inside of the car) is jammed? Seems it’s impossible to remove the door panel when the door is closed.
