Remove Mercedes Trunk Emblem Star without removing trunk lining

Here's my easy method on how I remove the Mercedes trunk emblem logo badge without having to remove my trunk liner. All I needed was some fishing string. This can be done on all W204 C204 C-Class C180, C220, C250, C300, C350, C63.

Dang it...I removed the dang trunk liner and removed the emblem that way. Soooo much work just to get the star on. Haha...this looked hella easy. Great job Flexx! 👍🏼

Great video again brotha! Just to add- I suggest if the aftermarket star you purchase, also offers the rubber grommets that are inserted into the trunk to help secure the star, spend the little extra! One of my grommets was in rough shape so it was nice to replace it for clean fitment. Hope this helps anyone else looking to do as we did!

Yeah I change the star this morning. Didn’t have fishing line but I used dental floss. It came off finally but the star broke. I had to put the plastic anchor back in the hole . It doesn’t fit flush . Still tapping on it. Little better now. Maybe the heat from the sun will make it loose so it can fit better. I was looking at the quality and it’s cheap plastic. But anyhow looks great!

Hey man I got a question. I found a star on ebay it's a red one without the circle. It says it's only for S class but it looks like the same setup for C Class..do you think it will work?

A client of mine wants a light up rear emblem for his gl350. Does their emblem also have a 3 post mount? Do you know if the holes go deep enough through the hatch that I could run wires to tap off the 12v license plate signal?

I believe all Mercedes has the 3 prong for trunk emblem. And I already did a led emblem. If you are doing the same one, just note that the led emblems on the market are usually flat but the trunk on most Benz are curved. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pLl3ZNdqnrTWZp8.html

Looks easy enough, but my question is are we using the fishing line to cut through some adhesive that is used to secure the star in addition to the (3x) prongs. Just wondering because when I reinstall I want to have everything ready to go. Ironically those stringy mops at the automatic car wash got caught under the star and ripped it off.

There is no glue or tape on my star. It’s only held in place with the 3 prongs that poke into the trunk.

I have an Edition 1 W204 C63 with Matte Black Oem Paint, will the fishing string be damaging my paint doing this?

Lol I did it the same way with the floss, except the emblem snapped, so I used a fork to do the rest and ended up cutting myself, should’ve just waited for Flex to make a vid 😂

A c250 and c300 is pretty much the same thing but with different engines and exhaust.

Hey Flexx. I wanna know how can I take control over my auto lights. I have a 2013 b250 and hate when my auto lights come on during the daytime and when it’s raining. I want to be able to turn my lights on when I want them on. Please if you have any idea or anyone else. Thanks.

The only way to “control” your headlights is by not using the AUTO mode and by iterally turning the knob on or off when you want light or no light. Having your lights come on during rainfall is required by most states cause it helps with visibility and allows others to see you. Trying to bypass that is straight up illegal in most states. In most states if it’s raining and you don’t have your headlights on, you open up yourself to getting a ticket.

@@TheFlexxGarage thanks for your reply. And I understand the laws. I’m in Canada. But I’m sure it’s the same. The thing about this b250 is that it doesn’t have a light off switch. And my problem is even when it’s partly cloudy the auto lights come on. And the other thing that’s so frustrating is that when the auto lights are on even if I turn the switch to park lights the auto still stays on. I just thought you might have heard of this problem.

Yeh. I don’t know. Most cars are setup a specific way from the factory to meet rules and regulations where the cars are shipped too. For example my US spec C250 fog lights can come on with my headlights. Other countries fog lights actually shut off when the headlights are on. Again, that’s a Mercedes thing.

I think that’s glued...plus it will be hard to get the string in there due to the Indention.

Don’t remember but sometimes I had to triple mine up so it wouldn’t snap

It did not work - I could only find 18lb fishing line - so I braided it. the star was broken to begin with - but the pins did not pull out even though I wrapped around each one - the star just finished braking - now I have three pins sticking out of the trunk. Guess next step is to remove the lining. :(
