In this Video I will be to showing how to remove popping P's or Plosives using audacity. It can be hard to avoid P Pops when recording, I will address how to avoid popping P's and how to remove them using the free software Audacity when you can't avoid it.

THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL EVER, IT WORKS AND IT WAS SO EASY SERIOUSLY THANK YOU!!! I always end up with stupid plosives (still messing around with microphone setups) but this actually worked to remove them, seriously thank you

The way I do it is go to amplify effect and reduce it by -5/-6 db....I do it mostly for breath sounds after doing compressor effect on the audio. Of course using a pop filter while recording should avoid the above...also I find that when recording if I avoid speaking directly into the microphone it helps also..go very slightly to the right of left..

Thank you Mr. Sir!!! I have an older version, so I didn't have the filter curve, but a high-pass fit the bill nicely enough. Eliminate the overzealous P.

@@ChiChiDoesStuff OK, so (1) Go to Tools > Add / Remove Plug-ins.. (2) Click on Name to SORT alphabetically. (3) Locate "Filter Curve" and "Graphic EQ" and "Enable" each one. (5) You should now find both effects in the top-half of the Effects menu.

If you magnify the audio file and play it back and listen carefully you will see the "s" sounds on the file. I just highlight each one go to amplify effect and reduce it by 5 db for a start and see how it sounds. There is a free plugin called a Dessert you can download and use it in Audacity. I tried it but I didn't find it very good.

What I do is highlight the first few seconds of the Popped P and just Fade it IN that usually helps and of course try not to Pop the P in the first place.

@@TeamHowTo No problem. What brought me to your Video is I was looking for alternatives other than the Fade In method because I'm writing a Song titled "She's Making Plans" and you can guess what's happening when I sing the word Plans, yup, Pop, Pop, Pop!! Lol!

I have bass boosted through EQ and compressor. I want a radio voice for a podcast. Wouldn't this method just take the bass back out?

Only on the small section you are trying to fix. It won't effect the overall track. You don't want extra bass the Popped P

If you can isolate the car sound, you can try using the noise reduction effect. watch this video and use this method. Instead of getting a sample of the silence at the beginning of the track, get a sample of the car noise and only the car noise.
