How to remove a stuck lower unit. I put a new engine in the boat and I need to change the impeller. The lower unit would not come off. Third time is a charm. This is how I did it. I made this video because in every other video I watched about changing the impeller, their lower unit was either already removed, or it came off easy. Mine was a bitch to separate. I did not want to beat on it or ply on it. The housing is aluminum and I definitely did not want to mess anything up. This worked great for me. Again. This is my first time, but I figured out a great way to do it and I hope this helps you too.

Thanks just did it for few minutes but it started raining will finish tomorrow but it was working saw a gap much appreciated can’t wait to take the boat out

We used washers nuts and a sockets but got stymied where there wasn’t a bolt to work with. Bought two mini machinist jacks from Amazon that fit between the fins for $24 bucks. It worked. Lots of PB Blaster marination and patience helped too

Using the nits to jack the pieces apart is the best trick. Way better than beating and wedging.

Good tricks. Thanks! I had the same problem and this method worked. I used a relatively thick pocket knife instead of putty knives on the aft end.

Thanks for this video. It does a good job of showing where all the fasteners are. I used a different way to put pressure on the rear section: instead of putty knifes or a chisel between the upper and lower I used wooden wedges kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g9ykl7CXlrG5qH0.html

@@BigShticks no Berry today. Kind of wish I did. Turned out to be a nice day, but I'm sure with cold stained water up there might no be a lot of action yet. Got some boat work done and my friend make cioppino and told me to come eat. Had a pretty good day. Dino nuggets sounds good too. Video coming of recipe?
