Removing mini lathe spindle bearings

Mini lathes tend to have different spindles and bearing types, my WM210V turned out to have 32010 which are 50x80x20mm. Will probably replace them with NSK bearings of the same type.

My 210V has the 30209 angular contact and were also full of crap, as the whole machine was full of when it arrived. Totally tore it down and started over but with quality components

=) Съёмник давящий ассиметрично, ни есть хорошо. Но мысль конечно пёрла. Особенно подпорные ролики улыбнули В реальности там нет большого натяга, поэтому без разницы чем сгонять, хоть клинышки подгоняя поочереди. Упирать в планшайбу шпиндель тоже не правильно - нагрузка на изгиб, следы от болтов. По правильному нужно было сверху поперечину металлическую и давить посередине болтом в торец трубы шпинделя. Но главное, успех. Поздравляю!

To adjust the bearings it is better do use slotted nut spanners instead of the screwdriver hammer method.

This is a very neat mix of old technology and new. Any trouble with the strength of the prints? What did you do the prints with? Simple PLA or PTeG?

Thanks. I think it's PLA, it is pretty strong as long as it stays cool.

surprised to see tapered roller bearings in there. why are you replacing them?

I needed to take measurements of the spindle and bearings. Spindle was always very crunchy and now I know it's because there was a lot of dirt in the bearings and they are low quality overall. Since I have all this apart it makes sense to address this now.

wOOw Strong filament :) what brand of bearing do you prefer, will you be installing a thrust bearing, or will you keep what was only of better quality

Just your average PLA 😀 I'm limited by existing dimensions so not much choice. Will install NSK 32010. Lathe generates vertical loads on the bearings for the most part so I'm not sure if axial bearings are used here.

What bearings did you use or what was in it? I'm looking for the size because I also have a WM210V and would like to do this, but want to leave the machine together till the bearings arrive.

I found it on your other video. Looks like either 32010 tapered or 7010( maybe 6010?) In angular with a shim.

Mine had 32010 bearings but the problem with WM210-style machines is that they are all slightly different. Yours might have different bearings - so the only way is to measure yours. It can be done without removing them - measure spindle outside diameter, bearing seat outside diameter (measure dust cover OD) and try to estimate bearing thickness +-2mm, then you can have high confidence in bearings to order without taking them off.

Looked like particles from cast iron processing - they painted the case after installing the bearings and since there's no bearing seal from the inside of the headstock, they blew paint, sand and cast iron dust into the bearings with the spray gun. Or maybe bearings were sitting in the open and got the factory dust accumulated on them.
