In the US, most auto parts stores have cans of "Paint remover for Aluminum painted surfaces" aka Airplane paint remover.

hia..if you fancy a project and a half, I have a Cannondale DeltaV 700 that's got some MAJOR problems. Firstly, I had to get rid of the Headshocks as I bent them on a downhill...in the snow...when my front wheel found a fox hole. secondly, the welds are failing on the rear seat stay bulkhead...the welds are failing because I dented the underside and bent the chainstay...I bent the chainstay hopping about doing trials while fitted with a daves-chain-device (DCD). As the Chainstay is bent, the rear triangle is all out of alignment and I can't centre the wheel. it's either someone takes on an epic repair job or I have to strip it and take it to the tip :( shout up if you're up to the job!

I just repainted an old steel bike, and it took me 10 days to finish. The lesson learned was: make sure the primer, paint, and coat are dried on between the layers. Otherwise we could get a mushy or soft paint jobs even with the hardener. So a thin layer is better. As a beginner, it’s very tempting to put thicker paints especially on light colors such as candy tone.

I don't know whether to attribute it to weak stripper from Home Depot (it was the strongest stuff they had), or the tenacity of the paint on my bike... but it took me 16 total hours of stripper, steel wool, and a brass wheel to get the hideous orange paint off of my GT Distortion. Good video, though. Brings back some memories of that very time-consuming project.

A cheaper way is to brush the frame with standard paint stripper , eg Nitromorse and then cover it up with cling film (ceranowrap?) to concentrate the chemical fumes over night.
