A bad egr can cause a loss of power so after replacement you could have a very noticeable power gain and a much smoother running engine and better idle.

@@S14AA yes it also turned out to have a leak in the intercooler - had to get the garage to fix that but once done drives great again

@@MrAutoFixer I mounted it back on with replacement hex head bolts, and left the one off under the elbow pipe.It'll make it easier for myself "next time". 3 bolts should be enough to keep it in place, hopefully! I've had nothing but issues with it for the past few weeks, slowly working my way through the potential problems (warning lights still on the dash).

How did you manage to get the bolts of in the end?, my top 30torx on the right hand side is rounded off. Can’t get enough behind a hammer to get a bigger size but in ether

@@JayD9Five I used the ball end of a small ball pein hammer and gently tapped the stripped head back in on itself. It worked just enough to get the torx bit to "bite". I also used a small chisel with hammer on the outer edge of the bolt head. The chisel should bite into the bolt head and you can tap it gently in the direction of rotation to loosen it off. It took a while but hopefully this will work for you as well. I also applied penetrating fluid liberally whilst doing this.I feel your pain, as it's a bad enough job to do without the extra hassle! Yes that sounds like yours is getting clogged up with a low flow code, a bad EGR can have a negative affect on the MPG so defo worth taking off and having a look but have a new one there ready to replace it as chances are you will need the new one! Good luck let me know how it goes👍

You can get new seals but if the old ones are in good nick just reuse them and check for any blows after 👍

A stuck EGR valve won’t have any affect on the temperature, it’s there to recirculate the exhaust gases for efficiency and anti pollution purposes, there are lots of educational videos online on how they work 👍

You could always look into have a remap done that can erase it so it’s no longer used but I would speak to a company that deals with it. You don’t want to be replacing it that often ! 👍

@@MrAutoFixer ah yes, that remapping is what I meant by wiring out. That is also quite expensive though, and I'm left wondering, doesn't my van need the EGR? Isn't remapping it gonna be bad for the van?
