Did you get a quote for it? What’d you need the deck off for?

@@weekendhomeprojects There was a metal on metal sound when I engaged the blades. Once I got the deck off, I noticed a small dent in the front part of the deck. Luckily, I was able to hammer it out. The $250 was just to transport it to the shop and return it to me. I live 15-20 minutes from the repair shop. No telling what they would have charged for the two minutes of “repair” it actually needed.

@@weekendhomeprojects sorry for the late reply. The mower deck removal went very smooth last fall. Mulch kit worked good but I removed during this spring. Do you by chance have a pic of the discharge cover up close? I can’t seem to get mine to go back on. Had to remove it for the mulch kit

doesn't your idler pulley arm have a square hold for inserting a ratchet or breaker bar? insert tool and you have leverage to move and hole the idler pulley in position to install the belt. Much eiaier on the hands,

I have the same mower. I lowered the striping pin one notch from factory. I mow at 3.5” height. I noticed you lowered yours all the way down. What height do you mow at? Did you adjust the striping pin height after or leave at the lowest setting?

I gave it a test run at the lowest and it was too low. So I readjusted to maybe mid-way. I realized after doing this that my yard is so uneven/bumpy that it doesn't matter. If I had a nice flat yard of fescue it'd be able to tell a difference. #lowermiddleclassproblems

@@weekendhomeprojects thank you for the reply! My striping seems to be a lot better with it just one notch down. My yard is a bit bumpy but not terrible. Otherwise I’m happy with the mower

Thanks for posting this, I need to change the blades on mine tomorrow and grease the spindles. How much of a difference did lowering the rollers make?

I lowered my roller one notch. It seemed to help with striping since I wasn’t noticing much striping. I mow at 3-1/2” typically. Have you lowered yours yet?

@@davidhefty7925 I have not yet lowered my roller, I'm considering doing it this summer to see how it looks. The mowing season for us in MI is just starting so I have lots of time to adjust it. I typically mow at 3".

@@neolexington ahh okay. I’ve been mowing at 3.5” but I feel like it’s much shorter than that when I measure the blade tip when deck is lowered. It’s around 3” really when I measured the blade tip. Really kinda wish I could add some anti scalp wheels to the deck like the 48” deck has.

@@neolexington ah dang. I was hoping the deck wheels would help prevent that. It’s not terrible, just a few spots in the yard I notice it.

Well damn, that looked like a whole bucket of fun! I may start removing my deck weekly after mowing just so I can clean it! 🤪🤪 P.S. - I wonder if there is a natural, safe cleaner that a person could spray onto the last vestiges of grass that are stuck under the deck. Let it soak while doing something else, then come back for one final water rinse and see a squeaky-clean under-deck? I’ll have to look into that.

Did you end up having to remove it? It's not something I'd do that often. I have to change out the blades after this season...not looking forward to it.
