There's a lot going on in this. For a start 'The Seagulls' is Brighton & Hove Albion FC's nickname. Ren lives in Brighton, the whole song is an ode to his hometown & Britain. Ending it with 'We're birds of a feather' ties up a spiral. He's a clever kid. Puts out a much needed vibe. Hope he goes absolutely interstellar. Seems like a very brave lad with an incredible amount of talent and stoicism. After seeing his other work it's pretty obvious that Ren is a Pure Creative Force. I'm a 51 year old who was lucky enough to see his train coming from behind an Akai mpc in Chester. England. He's not wrong about street violence. I can't go out since having my head smashed in literally twice. Britain needs to get real with it's attitude to 'drugs'. The street fights are ridiculous. It's alcohol & cocaine related shittery. I stay well away. I'm the proud owner of half a titanium face because of two random play-fighters. Been battered 2 or 3 times since. Self defence is a must in Britain. I'm disabled now. Last guys left me for dead in between 2 parked cars. I was walking, without my necessary crutches from a pub and got hit on the turn. Woke up at night-time. Half deaf. I got hit so hard it broke a piece of bone off in my ear which was later removed by a bedside Dr in the Hospital. Crazy how much that 1 moment changed me. Ended up with 3 cracked ribs too. Unconscious isn't enough for some people sadly. Some people like when you stop moving. I've survived a full unconscious 2-footed stamp on my head at 14-15 years old. Just walking home drunk and a gang hit me. Chester is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. It has a full 360 degree Roman Wall surrounding it. Gotta be very careful going out on your own though. My son Sam has also been assaulted in town. It's far too common all over. I remember frequent punch-ups in pubs before it got really nasty. This is different. It's probably the biggest criminal problem right now in Britain. It ruins so many lives.

Pounds is the British countries money in exchange. The United States of America has the Dollar system, Japan has the Yen, Russia has Rubles. I'm sorry but I don't know the exchange rates. The original samples orchestral arrangement of The Stones 'The Last time' recorded by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra in 1965. A deal was struck to use 5 notes for 50% of the profits. When it came out lawyers etc decided they'd used more of the song than agreed & demanded 100% of the profits and a songwriting credit for Mick & Keef. The Verve had no choice but to agree or take the record out of the stores, so they agreed the deal. Richard Ashcroft of The Verve also lost composer credits. Things got worse in 1999 when the old Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldman also sued the band as he technically owned the original recording. (Don't know what happened in that case). There is a happy ending. In 2019 Richard Ashcroft tweeted that, via management, Mick & Keef "had reverted the rights to the song back to the Verve frontman, allowing him to be credited as the sole author of the song." Ashcroft went on to say that this "remarkable and life affirming turn of events was made possible by a kind and magnanimous gesture from Mick and Keith, who have also agreed that they are happy for the writing credit to exclude their names and all their royalties derived from the song will now pass to me."

The rolling stones took the rights to the Verve song after release but gave them back to Richard Ashcroft a few years back.

Guys, I think you both are great, just slightly concerned with your geography education, lol. $=dollars £=pounds Great Britain is the name of the island that contains England, Scotland & Wales. Add Northern Ireland and those 4 countries are referred to as the UK. Our currency is not euros. Its £pound sterling. In case you didn't know, Ren is from Brighton, which is located on the South Coast of England (around 40 miles from London) Great Britain is a geographical term for the name of the island, just like the Caribbean, which consists of diffrent countries. The difference is, that Americans think Great Britain and the UK are just one country.

On the Rolling Stones - that's a bit of a sore point for many in regards to the industry and a particular individual. The short version is - The Rolling Stones had a song written by Jagger and Richards (The Last Time). Their manager at the time later created a side project - Andrew Oldham Orchestra - there was no orchestra it was session musicians and at times members of The Rolling Stones. Anyway it covered The Last Time which is the base for Bittersweet Symphony - though greatly changed. Oldham asked Allen Klein to help with the management side to get better deals. Klein known for being quite hard-nosed and a bit of a barsteward. Just forward 32 years and that's when this song comes out (1998). DECA had given permission who owned the copywrite, Klein however refused permission - some say it was when he saw the potential success - ie money. Ashcroft ended up having to cede all royalties and songwriting credits. That's when Jagger and Richards were added - to the point in 1998 (41st) Grammy's, they were nominated for best rock song... No mention of the Verve or Richard Ashcroft. Finally in 2009 Klein passed away and in 2019 Klein's son and Jagger and Richards ceded back to Ashcroft. The original was never actual sampled, it was just the inspiration and is obviously the same melody. Was absolutely madness, but Klein did get a lot of artists a lot more money but he was also seemingly too focused on that at times. Great song.
