This is just the simplest, purest song expressing love and loss in the most honest way possible. This was 12 years ago. He sang it at Joe's funeral and there is a restaurant on Anglesey called Freckled Angels (in honour of both Joe and the song). There is a live version - Ren looks so young, but so determined to pay proper respect to Joe. He starts to rush towards the end, trying to make sure he finishes it before crying. Quite a tough watch to be honest. What a beautiful song and what a beautiful friendship they had.

You are such an honest person. No-one should go through the pain at any point. Ren has at least got us talking. Sorry to hear of your loss. This is a truly heartbreaking song to listen to. Whatever else Ren does or will do, the way that he touches on so many seemingly hard but real situations is the most important thing he will ever do. Through sharing his pain so viscerally, he seemingly provides a safe space for others to be more open with their pain and feelings and allow some unburdening. He is literally saving lives - this is his true legacy. I feel sure that there is a freckled angel up above, smiling down and laughing and telling Ren "I told you so" right now. I bet your nephew is also beaming with pride at you.

When I saw Ren jumping for joy whilst being announced that he earned the No.#1 album in the UK…he looked towards the skies and cried. I know he was thinking of Joe. Yeah, he makes me cry, happy or sad.

This song and suicide in particular mean a lot to me because I had a brother that passed away from an overdose a couple years ago and he was very freckled. I miss him every day. I think it's beautiful Joe is still remembered this way. My brother was an organ donor who saved 3 people's lives so my brother will always live on too. Thank you so much for this! We never forget the ones we lose

*sigh* I unfortunately have this connection as well with yourself and Ren. I lost my best friend and my girlfriend to S, during my young adulthood. I’m actually the one who discovered my best friend, and had to phone the police. As far as my girlfriend, she lived in Norway (we met while I was in the Navy) and I had just gone to visit her from the states. Just to get the call two weeks later from her mom telling me what had happened after I returned home😢. It’s an incredibly painful experience to handle. I’ve done my best to continue on, but life for me hasn’t been easy. Sometimes it feels like I’m just going through the motions. I do what I can to remain in a positive mindset daily, but it’s not always easy. Thank you for your reaction to this song. ❤

His first album ! was really great , you can tell a younger REN The talent shines through on this track , as do the others on this record , but the pain is clearly still a bit raw , but brilliant anyways
