@danieloak77245 ай бұрын
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe is an old counting song of distant, unknown origin, but most likely dating back to Saxon times more than a thousand years ago and coming from Old English or Welsh. Ren is Welsh and as such the the rhyme is part of his national heritage. Just because evil racists in the USA changed the wording to make their own corrupt abusive version only a couple of centuries ago, does not mean that Ren can not use a milenia old Welsh rhyme with absolutely no racist meaning whatsoever in his art. I am afraid you have an extremely American centric view on this. The USA does not own this rhyme and you can not steal other people's culture, corrupt it and then forbid them from using it.

Its always good to widen someone's understanding, not so much to ascribe intention or feelings, that weren't expressed. MrLBoyd may not have known the wider connotation, but he also so that IF Ren wasn't aware of that meaning, someone should at least inform him, and then if he CHOSE to use it, he'd be aware of the inflection. He never forbade anyone anything. We all come form our own centers where ever they be, and some never get beyond the original orbit, some like Ren have so a vast wealth to call upon. All that said, I was unaware of it being of Celtic origin, so thank you for that. Fascinating people, I'm interested in the Caedroia- talk about DEEP history...

I love older hip hop but there was a lot of homophobia back then. NAS' original lyrics at one point are "I got to have it/I miss Mr. Magic/Versatile, my style switches like a f@ggot/But not bisexual, I’m an intellectual." He has since generally stopped using the lyric in live shows which we can be thankful for. Ren has at least twice used the "eenie meanie minie mo" rhyme. However, I never thought ONCE that Ren meant it in the perjorative that we in America used it in the past. We Americans have twisted many phrases and words into racist epithets and we should be ashamed of our past and current racism. But do not ascibe this to REN. Have you ever heard him say anything overtly racist? I have not.

Also the understanding of the phrase is not correct. That version started in the 1950s just because people changed the words to a phrase or song doesn’t make the original racist. It is also said in German, Cornish and old Saxon. His understanding probably comes from the current environment. Don’t get me started on picnic
@Markerman_6425 ай бұрын
There’s a entire history of this saying across the globe of its origin’s including some from Africa. Ren growing up in England was likely never exposed to the rhyme in the racial sense because it’s primarily a American thing and mainly during Democrat racist 1950’s time frame AKA Democrat KKK Propaganda. I can understand blacks not liking it. But throwing the whole phrase out for the one derogatory word which as far as I can tell from looking at the history of the phrase it akin to throwing the Baby out with the bath water. Sorry you take offense, I just can’t relate except when maybe someone kneels for the Anthem. I think of all those Dead Soldiers and want to stand and honor their sacrifice. But the beauty of it is that it’s a free country. As long as they don’t try to force me to kneel, I don’t care if they do. Don’t change a thing REN you do you they can Suck it, then zip it back up flip it like Vangogh thanks Bro!
