For me this has come full circle in a synchronistic kind of way. The Charismatic Voice (one of my favorite reaction channels) was my introduction to Hi Ren back in March. (Ren instantly became one of my favorite artists.) Then I saw Elizabeth react to The Darkness shortly after that, which led me to Justin Hawkins Rides Again. A little while after that I saw Justin react to Hi Ren, then do an interview with Ren, followed by an interview with Elizabeth, who is now interviewing Ren. Yes, we definitely live in a virtual reality! 😳😳😳 Edit: Oh, and Chris Liepe is intertwined in all of this synchronicity too, because he reacted to Ren, Ren revealed he was a CL subscriber, Chris had Elizabeth on his show, and Chris interviewed Ren. (And shortly after Chris's interview, a flying saucer landed in my back yard! 👽Well, I made that last part up....)

That's kinda how my introduction went too. I'd been following Elizabeth for about six months before Hi Ren, and a few others. Suddenly everyone was reacting to Ren and, since I wasn't familiar with him, I initially gave the videos a pass... but, they kept showing up. Over and over... and over... again, everyone was reacting to Hi Ren. Then I saw that it had 9 million views in a very short time... so I circled back, watched it, and was blown away. The next day I showed my wife and, for the first time, I introduced her to an artist that would quickly become one of her favorites. Since then, I've watched at least 50 reaction videos to Ren and everyone is in awe of the pure talent he possesses. My introduction to Justin Hawkins Rides Again was, literally, exactly the same as yours. I was familiar with The Darkness already, but hadn't realized that Justin ran a KZfaq channel. Chris Liepe is great too.

@@artvulture Wow, cool! I've been a musician for a long time (since the 1960's), and played in orchestras, jazz combos, rock bands, folk duets, brass choirs. I love to see artists cross over to other genres, mix genres, etc. (One of the reasons I'm into Ren.) Bittersweet Symphony, of course, has an orchestral feel, perfect for ballet. I could see Seven Sins being more of a challenge rhythmically, almost like progressive hip-hop. I've only heard it a few times, so I'm not sure if it changes time signatures. Definitely a lot of flow changes, though. Power is at the top of my list of Ren songs.

🎉@@adelbertomuggler372There is the academic way for expressing what one feels, thinks, and believe, very boring IMHO, and then there is human speaking. Why is Ren's music so powerful and uplifting? Part of the reasons, I believe, is because there are "imperfections" in it. The song "All of Me," talks about why the dude is in love with this woman goes "All you perfect imperfections." Perfection in the arts, communication, and being human is so sterilizing. I understood what Jeff was saying, and I enjoyed it. Being a grammar Nazi, is so unfulfilling and wearisome. Been there, done it, wear the t-shirt of shame. I just have to say two things: 1. @@adelbertomuggler372 There are many levels of empathy. Empaths cannot easily turn theirs off and end up absorbing the feelings of others sometimes as if its their own. We're talking actual physical reactions, mild or severe, to the suffering of others. Not everyone does that. Some, in fact many can compartmentalize and have compassion without going to that level. It's easy to tell that Ren feels very deeply and I'm sure that's based on his own difficult journey.

@@Calmontheoutside This is a common misconception created through people asosciating "British" with being from England. It's actually a confusing clusterfuck. England is a country. Scotland and Wales are countries. Eventually, the Monarchy of England assumed control of Scotland and Wales, creating a group of countries under the English monarchy known as Great Britain. Later on, the monarchy also assumed control over Northern Ireland, while the rest remained a republic. This became known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I found Ren's music recently, like most finding Hi Ren first. I found it just about a year after learning my lifelong mental illness challenges were undiagnosed ADHD and Autism. Finding out that Ren may be neurodivergent, and finding similarities in how he thinks and processes life is just so great. Watching him in a podcast interview is just as captivating as his music.

Oh, I am hanging out for this one!❤ Please tell Ren that I genuinely consider him this generation's Shakespeare. He is a master storyteller and lyricist. Not only that, he's so eloquent and...what is the word...aurally legible?...that I'm able to memorise his lyrics well enough to mostly sing along in maybe a dozen listens. It usually takes way longer and I have to actually read them. Not so with the boy Ren. Oh, and the Money Game trilogy is a work of utter genius. Actually, one thing I have been wondering - the way Ren sings the last line of part 3 in the same tune as the chorus of part 1 - aside from being completely chilling in context - sort of struck me as what you'd call a "sequel hook" if it was a film (which, to be fair, it kinda was). Any chance of a part 4? I mean, I'm not sure if there are any more ways of saying "capitalism sucks and so does human nature", but I'll bet Ren can find it.❤

Great interview Elizabeth. Of all the interviews with Ren I think yours stands out because you asked the technical questions of Rens methods of writing, recording, singing, acting and directing his art. Well done! He is an excellent interview and he seemed to be enjoying himself conversing with you. You addressed his health and background as well which gave us a better look at Ren as a human being that has struggled mightily to survive and prosper while combating illness. Thank you for your preparation and thoughtful questions of this one of a kind artist and beautiful soul. That speaks to you also as someone with an advanced education in music and a curiosity of the creative process and a knowledge of the physical ways that singing voices are created. Enough said. I expected no less from you.

Super appreciative and grateful for the “time” you both gave to each other to in turn give time, substance & attention to us “hungry caterpillars” 👏👏👏👏That being said, in the context of a “standard” interview & the increased demand on Ren’s literal hours in the day, it would have been a “lengthy convo” for him to mentally stay fully engaged in. I’m exhausted for him just imagining how intense the buzz & attention gathering momentum around him must be. It’s more important now than ever for us to remind ourselves of his wise & poignant words that have connected us all so organically…. “And I must not forget, We must not forget, that we are human beings” Much love to you all navigating the Yin Yang of this “ugly beautiful” spinning ball we’ve found ourselves on together 🙏❤️

This was such a great interview with the biggest genius of our time. Ren really is shaking up the music industry. His music is so fresh, inventive and new. The way he draws upon his illnesses and pain makes his music so relatable to everyone, because we’ve all been through tough times where we’ve doubted ourselves. Rens music has been the best therapy I’ve had in over 30 years. His music has made me feel things for the first time since I was 17. I’m now nearly 48. The light that Ren shines upon the state of the world and our planet as well as our philosophies and outlooks is really beautiful. His message is that we need to change. Bring on the renvolution!

Phenomenal interview Elizabeth. I really enjoy interviews with Ren because he is so open about himself, but it is even more special when the interviewer knows what to say and how to approach an artist. From this one it felt like the interview was a type of collaboration of its own. As a lifelong musician, now in my 70's, I am still amazed at how the personal suffering of someone with obviously great talent can transform into such incredible art and be so appealing to me personally. I had to give up performing because of my own illness so when others who are struggling with illness persevere and are still able to produce great work, it hits me and gives me so much satisfaction. Ren is truly a treasure. All the best to him and to you as well Elizabeth, for doing such great work.

I have CFS/ME and it makes me so unbelievably happy to see a fellow chronic illness survivor produce such amazing art. I hope what the healthier portion of the world can take away from this is that a diagnosis of a chronic illness with no cure is not the end of our worlds. Over time we experiment and learn about managing our health. It is then possible for us to achieve amazing things by working with and around our abilities/disabilities. "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" was written by Jean-Dominique Bauby who has locked-in-syndrome. He dictated the entire book by blinking his left eye. He was bed ridden and totally paralyzed except for some eye movement. And. He. Wrote. A. Whole. Book. A whole darn book. I think we can all take away something from Ren about overcoming obstacles to achieve something we can be proud of.

@@francesdoll4039 you're right. He should work at McDonald's and do art in his free time. Or i suppose he could sign with a label and make 3 minute songs that won't offend anyone. Or he could just write and perform advertising jingles for Walmart and Pfizer. Here in the USA we have poet laureates, it helps keep them independent. Geez he has such a way of connecting with emotions I bet Peta, and LGBTQ lobbyists would pay him handsomely. The NRA? Big oil? I bet Ren could convince even someone with a whole brain to rely on electric vehicles. My opinion; just give him what he wants and let him do the art he is called to make judgement free.
