annie is alive and well and living in pennsylvania. i saw renaissance 3 times in the late 70's, and have seen annie in concert twice in the past 3-4 years. i'm happy to say her voice is still as amazing as it ever was. i was even lucky enough to speak with her and have her autograph some pics for me!! she is priceless!!! considering that she is now over 60, how much longer can we hope that she will still be performing???
@mjneighbor71794 жыл бұрын
Some of the clearest closeups of ANNIE'S beauty with her most beautiful voice. At the beginning -notice a rare glimpse of her smiling after they cross the bridge. She is so intent on her music, during her concerts, you don't see her smile and we still love her. This is now my new favorite.

Incomparable beauty....and voice. Annie is so loved. She could even sing the simplest lullaby and make it the most comforting experience. Renaissance is a band worth knowing in all our lives. Their music will live on through the years.

I've been a fan of Renaissance since I was about 15, in the mid 1970s, and as I said to my daughter last night, when you can listen to music for 40+ years and not get tired of it, you know it's great. I found this video probably 10 years ago and still love it. Last night my daughter (a college student) wanted to know what piece of classical music was sampled in one of the songs she remembers hearing in the car when she was very young - we figured out she was talking about "Kiev" (odd coincidence right now, considering what's happening to Ukraine with Putin's invasion). I never thought she was listening to "our" music in the front seat... but she just said "Yeah, that was good stuff!"

I've loved their music since was first introduced to it in 1972. I carried their music to Sea with me on the submarines I served on. I've never stopped loving their music. My only regret is that I've never gotten to see a live performance.

Takes me back to 1975 when I saw Renaissance in Chicago. Annie's hair was past her knees, and she got it going like a propeller during 'Ashes Are Burning'. I wish she had tacked on the vocal 'piping' she does here at the end of the recorded version. Incredible. I am stunned. I dropped my drink. She has to be the greatest pure folk singer of all time. Thank you for this gift.

Dear Lord, the more I listen the more I love this. I'm just so thankful that this is available to listen to. I'm surprised that music can be so beautiful again. It's very sad to me to watch a video like this one and to realize that those times are gone forever. I'm a new fan of all the renditions of this amazing band btw. I didn't like prog music back then. It was Beatles, Dead, Airplane and such. Sorry I missed it first time around but it's all the sweeter now. Blessings!

I was out to sea in the US Navy in '93 when I acquired this video... this tune plus four promo pieces from Azure d'Or. My times in the military were very troubling ones; it is bald understatement to say that this helped to keep me straight and sane. Oh Annie, with hands-on-hips confidence and infallible, silvery, feminine pipes... thank you. Thank you.

That album proved to be swan song for this incredible lineup but it's still miles better than camera camera or time line. Haslam - Camp - Dunford - Tout - Sullivan never produced a bad album. It still saddens me to no end that we'll never see these musicians again. Michael and John passed away...

This is the only Renaissance song where all the music was composed by drummer Terry Sullivan. (He also contributed the main melody to the intro of "A Song for All Seasons," his only other writing credit with the band.) Note that he plays 2nd acoustic guitar here, though he's only shown doing so briefly (around 0:57-1:02). (You can also see him holding the guitar at the end after the band stops.) Not sure how audible his playing actually is. His composing talents are also in evidence on his more-or-less solo album (credited to "Renaissant") called "South of Winter" (a bunch of lovely tunes ruined to varying extents by weak vocals -- most by his wife, the 2 worst ones by himself).

@BettyNewsinger The words of Betty Newsinger carry a lot of weight but I have measured Annie's range to be at least above 3 octaves on the other hand? E3 to G6 (on Ashes are Burning live versions). I have never actually heard 5 octaves, so I am with you on that.

@Renaissancefan01 I would say more jazz-rocky stuff than hard rock. He plays a little more hard rock-ish keyboards on Jekyll and Hyde and Winter Tree (I am thinking Geddy Lee, again Rush do get called prog, but on the hard rock side of it). They were a bit unlucky to get paired to Annie :D, by themselves they were pretty good musicians, just not one-in-a-million.

Where's the justice u get seller bands like renaissance who are under rated, yet garbage like oasis that a lot of thick people tell themselves they like, ie, oasis can't sing play or create anything original, it's allways been that way, sheep buying something that maybe hip to like that haven't a clue of the concept of music, then the guys who love creating it making people's life's happy, I remember loving Northern lights but took me 20 years to find out who is then I could buy it, trouble is I never heard it announced on radio or I forgot, top notch music nice 1
