In Europe Le Car is known as Renault 5, and they have a reputation for being a very tough car.

I remember a few people who owned these in the 80's.They loved them,spoke in glowing terms.Funny,the people who owned more prevalent American,German,and Japanese cars were indifferent toward their rides.

Nice. Mine is a 1981 4 doors, metallic blue and a canadian version with 128 00 kmiles (203 000 km). Rust issue like yours in the trunk (although less than that in the video). Otherwise, everything is original except radiator and brake master cylinder....and tail pipe. Will go faster than 90mph. Bought brand new in Montreal back in October 1981 for $ CAN 6200, one of the best purchases I made. Not built like the disposable sh..t produced by car manufacturers nowadays.

Bring Renault back to the US via the Nissan dealership networks!

Hello thanks for all your responses! Yes this LeCar was a fun little car, Its now being enjoyed by the new owner. As far as i know the car is still located in Ohio.

Wow a renault five in usa

Had an 81 LeCar...what a piece of junk. Spent most of it's time at the local AMC dealer. They were clueless about any repairs. Started to rust badly after only 3 years. Traded it for an 84 Civic...on it's 3rd owner with over 220,000 miles on the clock. There's a good reason why Renault vehicles NEVER sold well in the USA!

Didn't the advertising for this model talk about how one small town used these things for police cars? Talk about crooks having an easy getaway!
