The root cause was very eventually found to be a bare wire shorting out on the gear linkage. The ecu went for testing and was apparently faulty, they sent a replacement and with a new 40amp fuse it started. He had to replace that fuse a few times until it just kept blowing and he found the loom hadn’t been properly restrained after a clutch job from a few years ago. But the bummer is that I asked him on day one to check those fuses on the battery and he said they were all ok. But one wasn’t. The main power to the ecu.

The cause of the whole thing was eventually found to be a bare wire intermittently shorting down by the gear linkage, and blowing the 40amp fuse at the battery, the fuse my mate said had continuity with a DVOM (but couldn’t pass enough current to light a test bulb) it would be ok for days or weeks until it eventually became permanent, the original cause was due to a clutch change a few years before and the loom not fitted back correctly. We couldn’t find that short because it wasn’t there when we were testing, but then the driver noticed it sometimes happened as he pressed the clutch and changed gear. The whole thing was a pain in the arse due to Christmas week and him moving out and having to leave it on the drive with the new owner of the house.

Hi, our problem was the ecu, which had blown a 40amp fuse on the battery, we got it tested and AC tronics sent us a replacement but the fuse was still intact enough to bleep a meter but couldn’t pass any current, we should have used a test lamp and a meter . It’s all fine now. £1000 later. 😩. The loom on this van is till like new and the wires all tested good. You could use a jumper wire to bypass your faulty one from the pressure sensor to the ecu and that’ll prove you’re correct, then you gotta find the original short. Over the bell housing apparently on some models before the modified loom was brought in

@Thpxs05 yes thats where I'll be tomorrow. I managed to find more on the same circuit by jumping the pressure and then rescanned. I have a feels it definitely there but the leaning to get to this point has cost hours apon hours.

@@karlmyers6518 2.0 CDI y2010. Owner said it happened after he used trailer. Central locking doesn't work, radio not working, hazard and direction indicators not working etc and crank no start condition. I found that there's no 12V to the BCM (multifunctional control module) under the steering wheel. Ignition barrel is working correctly, changed few months ago. All the fuses in engine bay fuse box seem to be ok. Unfortunately they are not labeled, so I can't tell which one in there is F04 60A fuse, which supplies power to the BCM according to Autodata diagrams for Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro. Also I noticed that Engine Control Relay gets only about 3V of voltage to control side when ignition on, i think it should be 12V.

Not as yet put a new bcm ecu key transponder and barrel now no glow plugs light comes on and no emobilezer light on
