Hermitcraft is a Minecraft SMP server featuring some of KZfaq's best and most talented Minecrafters. The server is 100% Minecraft Vanilla 1.20.4! This is Hermitcraft Season 10, and we are joined by two new Hermits, Skizzleman and Smallishbeans.

He only used about 1/4 of the diamonds that Rendog paid him for the apartment and he’s sold 6 of those and has a very successful rocket shop. Rendog is gonna have to keep that shop stocked for a while to bankrupt Iskall

might i suggest using blocks of nether wart under or in patches around the gigasludge as a type of Sulfur eating bacteria, or perhaps as rotting fruits on the trees

Maybe the squirtopods produce the toxic sludge and store it in their roots, release a pheromone that attracts prey into a natural basin, then quickly releases their “juice” to trap, drown, and digest the prey to use for food, and suck up the “juice” and digested prey back into them through the plants “mouths”.

adding lava as a bottom layer for the sulfur lakes might be an improvement over the dirt, especially because of the bubbling sounds you'll get

Hey Ren! You should consider adding details to the map by adding blocks in the overworld, refreshing the maps, then removing the blocks. Like radar circles or blips. Or whatever. You get it. Love you buddy.

Maybe the ship isn’t necessarily for space travel, but is capable of flying in low orbit to deal with the difficult terrain of some exo planets.

What if walls are not to keep hermits out, but to keep this biome contained. Some scp kind of stuff fallen from the sky with meteorites and now researchers build their stations to research it. Maybe harness some power/resources while keeping alien species at bay.

I think replacing one of those 3x3 sections of the wall with a set of buttons (especially nether ones for the colours) and "fuses"/"indicator lights" (using red, blue, yellow and green concrete mini blocks) could be a great idea, like some panels you'd see in Star Trek TOS. Also, I LOVE the space vehicle you showed, reminds me of a mod I used to run on Kerbal Space Program, can't remember it's name though. Anyway, keep up the good work, Ren, I've been really enjoying your lore-heavy content. P.S.: also also, a couple of ponds made with slime blocks surrounded by maybe moss might look nice and could be seen as some unnatural accumulation of spores, you could use that at the upcoming sculk shop, as some sort of alien infestation that culminates on a dark, corrupted-soil (sculk) region with an abandoned and overgrown Gigacorp survival pod in the center, covered in sculk veins. Just an idea that I hope people like.

Ultra-mini horizontal vines could be put in invisible armor stands and raised into the middle of the glass computer screens in the command pit to resemble words on the screen. Not sure if it will look right but worth a shot.

This is literally the perfect environment for sniffers, to add life to the base. Literlly one of the best bases on the server in my opinion.

Gem and Ren are a fun combo. And wow, he's cracked on trident! The command room makes me think of the video screens from Star Trek ships. Maybe using a wall/armour stands could recreate one of them, like someone from Gigacorp headquarters is calling in to receive the reports from the base?

You might to put some daylight sensors around the biome as solar panels. NASA's rovers use them on Mars and the biome is looking very Mars-like right now

Wow Ren. Amazing job on the build. Quick suggestion, maybe for the terminals you can add some red stone components? Comparators and repeaters could look cool for controls and maybe even an observer with the flashing light somewhere would look cool. It looks amazing though. You’ve inspired me to try some alien landscape in my world as well! You’re an amazing artist!

17:43 That transition into showing off the command center was veeeeeeery nice. You and Gem 100% need to collab 3000% more than you have been. Those clips with her were fun and refreshing as a watcher of both you and Gem. She’s able to handle your innuendoes much smoother than others AND you kicked her butt in Trident pvp like it was nothing! Both of those things were very unexpected.

In northern Europe, the spectrum of the suns rays changes due to the change in the incidence of light. The blue spectrum increases. This change in the incidence of light causes the shadows to become longer and the contours of the objects to appear darker and more clearly. (this may be also be true for some newly found lands in the west, that are commonly called canada).🌞 I mean, who knows what sun is shining on an alien planet. 😛

I'm sure there's a method for using a map chunk as a canvas and making a map of it, so you could make a chunk way far off in the map look like a computer screen from above, make a map of it, and then use that in an item frame as your computer screen

Ren, maybe you can get together with Impulse and see about making some custom cyber/terminal type models for item frames (like how Tango was going to use the conveyor ones he made) so that there is more than one person using them so it’s more of a logical purpose to have them on the server?

Not to kink shame or anything, but "Just get naked...and click on this bed" sounds very.....sus for a family friendly server. 🤣🤣 Also, just a suggestion: increase Diorite price to 1 diamond block per stack and pay for your apartment with the proceeds. Might be a bit high, but Iskall may fall for it.

I love the design!! Copper grates all around the outside make it feel even more open and airy than it already does, and all the terminals and stuff are great details, I can really imagine the place alive with busy people making sure everything is going smoothly!

I've used paintings before for computer screens, to decent effect before. Daylight censors for button arrays. Lit up bubbling water behind glowing glass gives a science feel. Maybe you could bring in some "samples" like bottles of squirtapod juice or other bits of foliage, in item frames, to be studied?

For the work-terminals you could use banners with a deepslate tile stair block (or a loom) below it as the keyboard

Love the idea of the control room! Fits in perfectly with your base. One thing I would say is make the map zoom in more that you mainly see your biome because it looks lovely from that perspective!!

It would be really cool to have more zoomed in maps of different hermits bases on the computer screens in the command center as another level of surveillance on them, not sure how youd get them to go under the trapdoors but maybe putting the maps down then making borders for them with armor stands? idk could be a fun easteregg seeing all the different bases together :)

Depending on how it would fit with the outside wall, the copper "computer" trapdoors could have one of the animated light blocks behind them to appear like they're 'on' - something like the sea lantern's pulse or a magma block for a lower light level that still has that animated look.

A fun idea for the wall terminals is to have a map of some of the other hermits bases (either whole or part). Command isnt spying on them just keeping an eye on the more nefarious hermits :P

Something you COULD do is make your apartment out of diorite, and when iskall complains, tell him that it's your apartment and you don't want it changed unless he totally overhauls it.

Especially with the wall done, I had a thought of maybe explaining why a little chunk of an alien planet is in hermitcraft. There’s a quantum mechanic theory called superposition where an object can exist in 2 states at once, also theorized as a way for an object to be in 2 places at once. Maybe Gigacorp found a way to be on multiple servers within one (maybe by studying portals and dimensions in Minecraft) while using the quantum barriers so you’re on hermitcraft, but doing research on a small section of an alien world at the same time.

If you want to add some life, an aromr stand alien sneaking through one of the scanners along with a red banner renamed "Entity Detected" buried under the door can tie the command map to the rest fo the build. The banner will show up as a marker don't he map and the name will appear as well, so you can have a "Caught in the act" moment in time for the lore.

Maybe you could use some red sandstone walls as pipes, or tuff walls to make other coloured pipes that sometimes go along the corners of your walls. Also! you could hire cleo to try and make Hologram screens with armorstands. that would be super cool.

Map art for the terminals would probably sell the idea best... or custom painting would be a lot easier and you wouldnt have to place a map amount of blocks somewhere in the over world. Wishing you the best Ren, I hope you and your family are well during these times.

I did not explain what to do as a custom painting. You could do like a command screen like in fallout. A black screen with some command lines on the terminal in like green text or a more thematic color for your base>

Looking great. Have you thought about getting some armor stand characters to populate your base? Auxiliary crew sent by Gigacorp, or recruited from the local inhabitants, or maybe some GigAndroids? Remember what ZombieCleo did for Scarland last season, I bet they could really help you make the place seem less empty (crew-wise). :)

For your command bay :- what about for the terminals, nether wood signage (either colour but probably the warped) with a lot of unicode graphics splashed with glow ink? Also you could have some droids in there running the place???

A great lore idea, if it doesn't interfere with someone else's base, would be to figure out the centre blocks of the command pit maps and create a GigaCorp satellite in the sky to explain how the pit gets it's data. It could also be a good thing to advertise your shops by hanging banners from it.
