He always had counterplay, all the assassin did. They have a limited number of combo's always placing them in the same distance and location from predefined targets (anyone they can kill). Meaning, its the same for all assassins, you catch them in that brief moment you win, you fail you die (probably, heals and shields, and hourglass, and armor/MR items on ADC's). And I assure you, supports will always exhaust mid jump on all assassins, fighters/tanks will always clean up your team once you dive the back line and are CC'd to hell, and ADCs/APCs that love life wont travel alone, into unwarded territory, or when they notice an assassin isn't on the minimap. Assassins are the easiest to counter out of all the roles. And now, they are even more useless! They are now just fighters with flare and no sustain based abilities (Except Knife cat and AD LeBlanc, this is a fighter build buff). Tanks/Fighters still rule this game, and with the addition of Colossus Keystone and removal of effective flat armor pen to have a chance early - mid against them, expect a 1 damage item Irelia with 14% - 45% her max hp as a shield, tearing through your entire team with fat tenacity while her team split pushes since you'll need more than 1 to kill her. Maybe a Lucian that's built all Lethality and dealing increased true damage because of how armor pen works. Now thats counter play! Some bullshit assassins as squish they are take 3-4 seconds to kill now with champion proficiency.

He's immune to cc AFTER he gets 4 stacks of ferocity which falls off very quickly when he's not in combat. If he jumps directly onto a full group of people (i.e. not what assassins are supposed to do) the cc will hit him before he can get full ferocity. In addition if he uses his empowered w instead of his q his damage is a lot lower. Yes he can still one shot people, but no longer if you're grouped up.

If he has to empower W, then he's losing out on a shitton of damage...

You can't stack ferocity in the jungle and gank anymore, since now the ferocity stacks decay while out of combat. No more early ganks, no more leap roots, no more comboing. This rework is in no way near Rengars favor, at least not for assassin Rengar. It is genius on their part since they have never liked how Rengar turned out.

Now his broken-ess is on the AD by killing enemy champions. Isnt it +30% at 5 stacks? Thats pretty huge. Not worried about his W (Empowered). That is the ability which will destinguish between the bad and the great with this champion

Since there is no more comboing mid-leap, then it's even easier to oneshot a champion with the guaranteed crit + Q with the insane amount of AD. It just felt really good to pull of and master the mid-leap combo, but now that it's gone then I'm pretty lost in whether I still will enjoy Rengar or not. I'm obviously just salty since my most favorite champion in league (almost the only one I enjoy tbh) is getting changed. I now know how the Graves mains felt lol.

Yea but that is the issue they are fixing, mid-leap stuff. Think about it: mid-leap-happening-stuff is just op. Your champion hasn't arrived on the ground and is already making shit done. don't forget invisibility; the enemy can't react to this or can but it's a challenger guy on drugs. This is (and empowered AA) the main thing they are fixing. Imagine if every champ could do stuff mid-leap/gap closer. Imagine ezreal or vi or mal. Yes different mechanics on the leaps but still gap closers. Kha'zix is the other one that can do mid-leap stuff (before some patch he was already doing but without Riot's take on it; they didn't make the champ for it to go out like that. And after said patch, which I don't know which was it, they enabled Kha to do something else on his leap [i think W?]) and that needs to be corrected. On a leap, you are killing targets, that is unhealthy. Not to talk about the "press to kill" of Kha'Zix Q which also needs to be a shilshot and not auto target. Mid-leap is unhealthy and so is a lot of Empowered AAs. IMO the only ones getting Empowered AAs should be adc's or assassins, but in Rengar's case, he should not, because his thematic or fantasy identity was on the stealth, bush leap, being a jungle hunter and off course being an awesome lion-cat thing. If that identity isn't compromised during a rework/tweak, it should be ok. I mean, wasn't that the first thing that cativated you in the first place? He got released and you were like "whoooah! i want to roar too!", i was like this too. If you played a champion because of a certain mechanic, than then yes you are going to be disappointed on Rengar. And if that mechanic is broken? I'm glad it got changed. As I mentioned Kha with broken Q, i could mention, Veigar's R(needs to be skillshot), Annie's R(needs a slight delay), Syndra's Ult(needs to be a skillshot, at least) and there are PLENTY more. Well, most assassins getting a rework this year were broken before the rework. Talon still keeps on being a little too op but when catched, he probably is fked. Anyway, Rengar is all those thematics things, still, and an assassin above all, just more hard to play, which I totally aggree. Like kata. Look at her before the rework. She was the low elo "choose to win" champion and now she might be one of the hardest champions to play, which totally makes me glad! Dude, I'm sorry for this long comment and I hope I could, somehow, confort you on the change of your favorite champion. Just keep in mind that Rengar is still that predator you are going to kill with, just harder to play. When you want to argue about Kindred's old W heal, you have to bring up Graves. Riot said that it is problematic that Kindred can leave the jungle with Full HP. Looking at Graves he literally did the same thing and still does. His 3 knockbacks and E makes him invincible against the monsters -.-

His heal used to be a flat amount, now it works like grey health. Take too long to use your W and you won't heal at all. Also, W changes more or less killed ap rengar, feel free to celebrate LOL XD
