I think you’re absolutely onto something 💜 I didn’t show the images from the zine in the video, but the house is pretty close to an ocean according to the map, and weird occurrences are marked nearby the house (possibly in the rocky area). Umi’s name could be a nod to the first death of the shadow rabbit near the ocean maybe? 🤔

At first, I considered it an age thing, that perhaps she was just too young, but the continual mention of the artifacts in a negative/careless way felt like a pattern that the devs wanted us to pay attention to. It's suggested in the zine that the developers at least interacted with these same objects, specifically lighting a candle that never goes out, the wax never consumed.
