Awesome small camera for the home, very simple to setup and configure, and supports dual wifi band - which is great and I've not seen many camera support this. Picture quality is excellent with 5MP and 3 x Optical zoom, however can be sluggish - but the quality of the picture is very impressive
Bonus for me was the fact that you can add this to your NVR system for continuous recording and I go through this in the video.

Great video. I have 3 Reolink cameras but is considering a Zoom model. BTW, to my knowledge Reolink E1 Pro and Zoom models support up to 128G mem.

does the camera needs the sd card in order to record directly to the NVR? I'm not able to make it record to the NVR without the sd card

The first thing I did was put an SD card into it and it doesn't make a positive connection (no click) and does not allow you to poke it in so that you can easily get it out (usually a spring that brings it out).

Thanks for the review. Great camera but SO very annoying that Reolink used a 0.7mm jack as it seems nigh on impossible to get an power extension cable with that jack/plug size.

How safe it is to film inside of your home privacy-wise? Is it secured from hackers trying to access it?

You will want to put any camera you have under its own VLAN. This is sometimes called “guest access” on a personal router/mesh network. You should do this for all of your IoT (internet of things) devices honestly. I would only keep your cellphone and any PCs/laptops/tablets on your primary home network. So long as you have a private LAN set up that houses both your primary and guest connections - you should be fine. Most routers encrypt with 256-bit end to end signal so hacking your devices would be near impossible, and for the average home user unless you’ve got the Declaration of Independence in your closet - no one will put that much effort into getting into your cameras.

You can create multiple users with or without admin rights. For this camera they won't be able to use the PTZ feature if they aren't an admin. For Reolink's doorbell, non-admin users cannot use the 2 way talk feature. I feel like they need to add functionality to allow different features to be enabled for specific non-admin users.

not a bad review, but for a second I did consider giving thumbs down because of no demo of the ZOOM function. Model is the E1 ZOOM. So ZOOM is the top feature for this camera, and NO demo of it. It was quite puzzling since this review was quite extensive,

you can use the app , it have a control button like joystick but have a 3 sec delay

@@noahark4670 yup the remote ptz controls are a little delayed but work great. You can also create pre-set viewing angles and with a simple click your camera will hone in where you saved the preset and after a set ammount of time it will return to the default angle

It's not as easy that you show. When you scan the barcode to the camera it beeps but then it gets stuck at the router connection and no matter what I do it keeps block the progress. ends up return it

I have the same thing. I went to another location, changed the wifi, and when I came back home it no longer connects. The reolink customer service very useless for things that dont work.

I have 32GB on my cameras, which should be enough if using record on motion. But i also have all my cameras connected to an NVR as an extra safety measure. (as i have several cameras outdoor as well)

This was so annoying to set up , it just keeps yapping "welcome to reolink" making me want to break it. The the app instead of just letting me select my wifi wants me to type in wifi name and password separately. Good grief.
