Today we are going to be checking out an awesome security camera system kit in a box. It’s another Reolink product, and for those of you who follow my channel know I love using their products because of their quality hardware, easy to use app with remote access, simple install and setup process and awesome price-point. This is a 4K system, including 4 turret style cameras and a Network Video Recorder (NVR). Today we’ll dive into the box and see what’s included and talk about the system specifications.
This will be the first of a few videos I will be presenting on this system. Today is all about introducing you this system’s components and their purpose. We’ll also discuss the technical specifications, so you know exactly what you’re getting if you purchase this system. This setup will cost you $530US but often goes on sale for under 500. Product links will be in the description, including a link to buy this setup directly from Reolink (with free shipping).
Looking at the NVR, which is model number RLN8-410. It offers 24/7 recording of up to 8x4K security cameras. It comes pre-installed with a 2TB hard drive which is expandable to 2x 4TB drives. To put that into perspective, with the 4 cameras included, recording at 4K, you can store about a week’s worth of continuous recording on a 2TB drive. This system maxes out an 8TB, which gives you about a month. Once the disc is full, oldest data will be deleted and replaced with new.
Like I mentioned, there are 4xD800 4K cameras included. If you require additional IP cameras, Reolink offers several other styles and resolutions. On the Reolink site, they tell you if the camera will work with their NVR, like this one here does. But the Argus indicates that it will not work, so keep an eye out for that prior to ordering additional cameras.
Here is a summary, of everything included in the box: The RLN8-410 NVR, 4 D800 IP Cameras, NVR power supply adapter, high quality HDMI cable, USB mouse, 4X 1m network cable for testing, 4X 18m network cables for connecting the cameras, quick start guide, mounting templates for the cameras, surveillance signs, water proof glands to protect the RJ-45 connections, extra RH-45 connections, screws to mount the camera and a wrench.
That covers all of the specs and features of the hardware included in this very impressive 4 camera, 4K system. Reolink definitely has some top-quality gear here. I have obviously been playing with the system for some time now and if you are considering some security cameras or an out-of-the-box security solution with and NVR, make sure to consider this one here. More videos to come and again, links are below. Hit that like button if you found this helpful and don’t forget to subscribe for more Reolink and Home Tech DIY projects.

You can strip the "bend-prevention" plastic around the network cable next to the network connector using a Stanley knife*. This way the network connector and rubber seal will fit nicely inside the waterproof connector. No need to cut the cable and reattach a new network connector. *Using a Stanley knife, just cut along the cable until you get to the connector itself. Do this every 45° degrees and all excess plastic will come off easily. Good luck!

Yes! Great idea! I tried this before in another project and ended up slicing through the jacket. I didn't know if I cut a wire inside or not. It's worth a shot and if you mess it up, you can always cut it off and add another.

Just installed this same system and some tips. First you don’t need to cut off the head off the Ethernet but just trim the extra rubber squared edges of the head and it it will fit through. Hardest part is running the cables in the attic.

Another great review especially how clearly you explain the whole NVR connection points and what they do, for those not so tech minded.I am wanting to expand my 8 ch NVR via the esata port and adaptor cable, with a 3.5 external HDD (without a case), but can't find an adaptor cable like the one you showed that has power other than USB power.I believe that USB power is only good for a 2.5 HDD. Can you please help?

Thanks for the nice comments! I think you'll need a powered eSata 3.5in HDD Docking Station. It appear there is an eSata data cable and an eSata to USB included. You'll need the eSata cable. This one might do the trick: amzn.to/3nzWv2N

I bet the Motorized Automated Object Tracking PTZ POE Cameras are Gonna Cost a B0m8! Any Models You're Aware of with Good Range and Picture/Snapshot Quality? Why does weight matter? Is it going to be in a motor home?
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY Жыл бұрын
Weight can be an indication of quality or manufacturing materials. Heavier HDDs are of better quality and heavier cameras tend to perform better in the elements long-term. The NVR's or camera's weight can also dictate the install location depending on the mounting surface. My system wasn't installed in a motorhome but do feel free to check out my installation video.

One other TV of mine is 4k but the rest are 1080p. Since I use HDMI extenders to view the feed other my TVs it only uses 1080p, and the quality is awesome. When I have a 4K monitor connected directly to the NVR, it's awesome, but it wouldn't justify upgrading from 1080p to 4k. It's better on 4k, but 1080p is still great too.
