Mitch McConnell was hiding yesterday, trying to keep from talking to her because she was upset about this issue and he is stalling the vote for no reason. I was thinking about this exact issue a week ago when I found out TSA workers weren't getting paid. That means Air Traffic Controllers aren't getting paid, and that could spell danger if they walk off the job.

Objectively, this Young lady is saying the truth. It's just a fact that the shutdown is not only affecting the federal employees, but also the whole country. Anyone with a functional brain can see that she's more dignified than 45, and most of the far right!

Give me a frickin break, I spent 35 years working for a Tier I auto supplier and both temporary and indefinite layoffs were a way of life for the hourly workers in the industry. And in each event, not once were the workers promised full back pay for the time off as Trump has done for the govt employees via approving the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act..... You would think that when Pelosi and Schumer approved $10 billion in aid to Mexico and Central America, which was approved by the administration, they could have asked for $5 billion instead and given the President the $5 billion he needs to secure our country from illegals and drugs that are flooding into this country. What a wonderful speech which is so much in character for "Sandy" (nice nickname). She has encapsulated in a few words the reality of politics for ordinary people, wherever they are, and the reality of a globalised world that we now live in that you don't "fix" by building walls, but by building understanding and compassion. Compare the responsibility of this air traffic controller to look after the lives of thousands of people every day, and which he is being asked to fulfil without pay, with the absolute dereliction of responsibility that Trump and his political cronies display day in day out, interested not in doing their duty to SERVE ordinary citizens, but in clinging to power, taking every benefit they can whether legally or immorally "earned". AOC is a rare light in the darkness and I hope she continues to shine that light to inspire us.
