@Keith Panton Because her policies are preposterous. How can we expand welfare program while accepting millions of immigrants at the same time? We can't sustain ourselves because the US is a huge country with a large population and not a small sustainable country like Scandinavian countries. Also her environmental policy costs trillions of dollars. I'm sure we can achieve something better through scientific innovation without any political bias.

What is the problem with trying to go towards a more sustainable economy? Just because change doesn't happen overnight should we just say, oh well, and not do anything? I'm 60. I know my time on the planet is ticking away. But I am concerned for future generations which is why I believe we should look for sustainable energy/markets/businesses, etc.

Not just that, she's an extremely fast learner. I have seen several of her speeches in Congress and on late night TV, and I don't know about others but I have definitely noticed a massive improvement in nuance, tactful deference from saying anything that would be misinterpreted, coming off as antagonistic, etc. Compare that with her campaign days where she was unfiltered, frank and brazen... And you find that while the passion is still there she has found a better way to put it across.

I really like her idea of breaking down each debate to a major subject. One on foreign policy and national defense, one on economic policy, another on social policy, another on healthcare policy, another on environmental and climate policy, etc, This way we can get a detailed perspective of candidates on individual issues. And they can focus their research for a given debate, and actually fine-tune their _own_ ideas as how to approach issues. As it stands, candidates will strive for the sound byte that gives them repeat media airplay.

@FightWorldSlavery It isn't exactly solar flares. But the energy that the sun releases. The IPCC Only looks at solar irradiance - to the annoyance of any one studying the sun - at least irradiance has been finally added to the models. But we still need x-ray, particles, gamma ray's, cosmic ray's, solar wind. There is a lot of energy output from the sun that we aren't factoring into our models - factors we should be very concerned about. And they make for actual predictable, cyclical models.

She needs to radically change her opinion on the issue of the pay raise for the members of Congress though. The proposed raise of pay for Congresspersons currently being considered is ridiculous. Their pay is sufficient at this time and although I'm somewhat hopeful that the new members will affect positive changes I don't believe that there's been anywhere near enough accomplished thus far to merit talks of pay raises across the board for the representatives in the U.S. Congress or the U.S. Senate. Elitism, the minimum wage, the wealth gap, the tax cuts for the top percentage of the population, the consolidation of wealth within the same top percentage of the population, the reprehensible number of Americans who have no health insurance, inadequate health insurance, or have health insurance that's too expensive or too limited, the cost and availability of advanced education, student loan debt, the cost and availability of child care, and other issues related to the economic well being and opportunity of the majority of every day Americans are all issues where there needs to be significant positive recognized and ongoing impact and improvement before there's any talk whatsoever about positively affecting the economic well being of the Congressional and Senatorial representatives whose job it is to accomplish the aforementioned for the United States citizenry.

Have you spent any time in Downtown/Eastside, specifically Hastings St? It's a derelict example of urban blight, boarded up businesses, (hundreds, not dozens of) homeless mentally ill drug users wandering around. Not to mention the flood of foreign money, allegedly now making Vancouver a haven for money laundering, which has helped propel a completely inflated housing market. Vancouver has lots of beautiful aspects, but until Downtown/Eastside is cleaned up, and other issues are addressed, I would not use it as role model.

Stephen Colbert is the best person on his feet in television history. His years of performing improv prepped him for this gig. People NEED those 2 jobs because the 1 job they have doesnt pay them enough and/or provide benefits, especially since most places hiring will only hire part time as a loophole to not pay benefits since they legally have to give you if youre full time. Compared to her colleagues who all take corporate money (ie fossil fuel/fracking industries), she is one of the best on the issue. If you disagree that humans are causing it then I welcome you to prove multiple fields of science wrong (in physical chemistry alone the mechanism has been understood since the late 1800's) and earn your nobel prize. Stupid people who buy into propaganda by people who will literally making billions of dollars are incredible.

And smiling while talking about the darkest things happening in America and not getting stuck in that existential crisis. She is a great leader. I really want there to be a climate debate, but I don't think these tv journalists can act as the moderators. They aren't exactly used to having substantive discussions about it that go beyond arguing with a science denier about whether it is actually happening. It would need to be science communicators and scientists who field the questions and moderate. I would recommend Kait Parker from the Weather Channel.
