"60 Minutes," the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10. "60 Minutes" has won more Emmy Awards than any other primetime broadcast, including a special Lifetime Achievement Emmy. It has also won every major broadcast journalism award over its tenure, including 24 Peabody and 18 DuPont Columbia University awards for excellence in television broadcasting. Other distinguished awards won multiple times include the George Polk, RTNDA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Reporting. "60 Minutes" premiered on CBS Sept. 24, 1968. The correspondents and contributors of "60 Minutes" are Bill Whitaker, Steve Kroft, Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Anderson Cooper, Sharyn Alfonsi, Jon Wertheim and Norah O'Donnell. Like all loses Washington will not truly recognize this one until some time has passed.Too much confusion and hate at the monemt . We do not teach wisdom any more. we do not hire those older who earned and learned wisdom, we no longer have the time nor the patience for such a thing as wisdom. They talk too slow, pause at moments to remember back when, speak in a language that is slowly miss understood, not quick nor flashy. This country is dismissing it's elders who earned this wisdom that every generation not so long ago sat around a fire and listened intently with eyes wide open as they told life tales and passed on valuable life learning that only years of hard work and struggle can teach. You now have a government who cheats the money out from under it's senior citizens, shorts their right to affordable health benefits, refuses to raise a minimum wage that the wage they will pass eventually will already be 15 years obsolete. Mr. Cummings some how managed to rise above all of this noise to achieve something better for him self and others who were willing to listen and believe. Now it's time to ask yourself what do you believe was on Elijah Cummings mind in his last days here on earth about country and Democracy. Do any of you think all the years he worked as hard as he did to see what has become of his dream, his country, his life long ambition? DID YOU SEND HIM OFF TO HIS FINAL RESTING PLACE FEELING GOOD ABOUT THE COUNTRY HE FOUGHT SO HARD FOR AND BELIEVED IN. Did he let you down or have all of you let him down. I do not believe this man deserved to live the last part of his life witnessing what is happening right now to this country.
