In this video I show a hack I came up with how to fix and repair a broken sensor clip that is found in most automotive wiring harness applications like ignition coils and sensors like MAF and IAC valves, etc. This hack will work on any sensor or connector plug that has a brittle push clip that breaks and not look horrible like the zip ties repair.

I have NEVER experienced a loose sensor clip. So when I break a clip, I'm overjoyed, no more stupid clip to deal with. The friction of the male and female ends when joined together has always been snug. I'm sure a loose sensor plug happens but it just seems very rare, at least in my experience. Even so, I appreciate your video and the creative way you deal with the situation.

Man when something comes up and I look for a solution it usually takes 5 pages of bad videos to find a good one. Finally 1 and done and oddly enough I needed it for my wifes 09 rx350! 1st video, excellent knowledge share. Much better than my hickzip repair thought.

Just use a zip tie. And, no, I'm not talking about wrapping the zip tie around the coil. All you're doing is using the head of the zip tie. The link below explains it. Your idea works as well, but it's more labor intensive. kzfaq.info48jb0s7CQWM?si=U08-SBFV4fr8xFIK

High temp rtv glue, red. Nice. I learned something new and useful. I think I'll use a tiny on my old jag coolant reservoir plug. Was tiny, old, hard to reach and easy to break. Hopefully the new reservoir last the next 100 thousand miles so I don't have to mess with it.

Hey I know you had an accord on a FMU setup, and I was wondering about the reliability. I also have an accord that’s boosted but I want to make it my daily do you think with anyone FMU setup, all properly installed on 4-5psi I can reliably daily drive it, like to work and back everyday. I was just curious about this since I already have the fmu and stand alone ecus and tunes are expensive

I like the idea! I always thought it was only me who broke those connectors. Out of curiosity, does any car manufacturer make connectors that are in the engine bay and not made of thin plastic?

I can see this bonding the plugs together so when it gets removed next time you have to get a new pigtail and whatever component you plugged into.. cuz its either gonna rip the wires out or pins out one..

Hi, I've thought about it, and I appreciate the loyalty to the car from people like you. With that said I don't think there is much interest in the project anymore, and it needs so much work from years of sitting. I probably should think of a "reboot" series on it, I don't know though, thanks for the comment.

Now if you only had a solution for repairing the broken locking tab on my alternator regulator connector. This tab locks the male plug into the receptacle but, of course, it broke off. Hate to replace the whole alternator because of a lousy broken tab.🤬

Time is money, just use the same RTV and put a dab across the top of the connectors to seal it together. It will also be intuitive to the next person who has to service it when they see the RTV, and they know to simply slice it apart with a blade to release.

The internal plastic parts in the plug are made of crappy incorrect plastic and tend to crumble. Best solution is to buy cheap Chinese replacement plugs and insert the existing contacts/wires into new plugs. The life limited flexible parts REALLY should have been on the coil side.

Note to self: Never buy a 2007 Lexus RX 350 no matter the price. Bad engineering. Impossible to replace coil packs. Sounds like the engineers planned it to run up Chilton manual repair hours for the dealer estimates. Reminds me of the time I replaced a cabin heater blower motor in an old Volvo 240 GL. Had to take half the interior of the car apart to put in.

Why not solder using zip tie as the plastic solder to put the broke piece back on? It only takes 30 seconds, and will look and work good as new. And if it breaks again next time you can fix it again just as easy. Hell.... you could even just solder a tiny piece of zip tie anywhere touching both pieces (or in place of the piece you glue on and it would hold forever. Then when you want the connector off, you simply touch it with the soldering iron and it melts a Lil and you can pull it right off.
