Hi / Hola ,
In this video i'll show you how to repair a common failure in Volkswagen VW vehicles fitted with DSG gearbox (also Audi, Skoda and Seat). Error message is usually: "workshop only leave vehicle in P position". Hope it will be useful to fix your VW. Regards.
En este vídeo os mostraré cómo reparar un fallo común de las cajas de cambios Volkswagen VW DSG (también en Audi, Skoda y Seat). El fallo que aparece normalmente es: " ¡Taller! Abandone el vehículo solo con la palanca selectora en P". Espero que os sea útil para reparar vuestro VW. Saludos.

I'm in Australia and have a 2015 Golf MK7 Highline 103TSI with the same workshop error and just want to make sure this part is compatible because I've seen so many compatibility lists exclude my model. @@JaesenN and to answer your question mine is a MK7 2015 TSI90 stock. What’s annoying is that this was a recall in the US and Euro. That never was done in Australia.

For those who have the same issue - when I tested the switch by manually pushing it in the error didn't clear. However, one I drive the car it cleared after a few seconds and didn't come back on. Installation took about 15 mins - mainly the fiddly screw.

Does removing the plastic panel + middle storage box require some specific twisting/pressing/turning to release them properly? I don't want to use Force and then break the fixing points or the plastics.

Clear fault codes. Sometimes installing a repair kit will cause fault code U010300

I'm currently trying to do the same on my Octavia. The problem I'm getting is even after following the instructions and fitting the part I'm still getting the original error but also I'm not getting a gear box error and can't move the lever. I have to remove the new part and plug everything back in to be able to move the lever. I'm either doing something wrong, but can't figure out what, or the new part is faulty. Any ideas?

This isn't a gearbox failure, it's a microswitch in the shift lever.

Hola Jean Pierre, no pasé el scanner por OBD para saber el código de falla. No sé qué código de falla se queda registrado. Lo que sí sé es que al instalar la pieza, el error del cuadro desapareció. Saludos

Hi !. To my experience with my Golf GTE 2015 DSG 6+R, it was only an annoying message. It didn't affect to driving neither safety. It was only an error message. Greetings !

I have lost the screw which is shown in minute 9:06. I tight the Adapter with the 4 clipsers. Do you think this is also good to be tight enogh ?

Hi, I think that this screw has not only a tight function but also a guide function to place the plastic part in its right position. May be that due to shocks during driving , the 4 clips will be not enough so the part will move and perhaps you will experience some faults. If possible try to find a screw and put it on its place. Hi Mohammad. There were no symptoms, just a warning message on the dashboard. Doing like i show on the video the warning disapeared. I didn't check the OBD to see the DTCs, but i think the fault codes may be saved before the repairing.

Hola Cristhian, pues la verdad es que no sé decirte. El León Mk3 comparte muchos elementos de chasis y componentes con el Golf Mk7, que es en el que yo hice la reparación. Pero mi Golf tiene 6 marchas hacia adelante, y tu León 7, por lo que cabría la posibilidad de que la pieza fuera diferente. Yo que tú no me arriesgaría. Miraría a ver si hay algún vídeo para reparar ese fallo con caja DSG 7. Y si no lo hubiera, yo lo llevaría a la SEAT a reparar para evitar problemas. Mucha suerte y saludos.

@@user-zm4tw4xi8h Hola Cristhian hermano. El fallo es realmente provocado por el malfuncionamiento de un microinterruptor eléctrico. No es nada mecánico. La electrónica no detecta bien la posición de la palanca de cambios y por eso sale ese error. Pero la caja de cambios sigue haciendo sus cambios normalmente sin problema. Es decir, a la caja de cambios no le pasará nada por conducir con ese fallo. Lo que ocurre es que es un fallo molesto, pero no es peligroso. Saludos

Hello, my passat b7 2011, DSG 4motion has a problem with, P - parking position , is not possible to change position on the gear to R , N , D , and the diagnostics writes this error. 01236 - Shift Selector Locking Solenoid (N110) . - Defekt . It's only emergency i can change position on gear with yellow "button". What do you think please? DSG works normally ... Thank you so much

Hola Mathew. No creo que este fallo pueda ocasionar un problema mayor. Simplemente el fallo es molesto por el aviso que sale en pantalla. Pero no creo que el fallo pueda generar problemas adicionales. Según he podido leer el fallo está causado por un microinterruptor que detecta la posición de la palanca de cambio. Al fallar ese microinterruptor el software del coche no sabe en que posición exactamente está la palanca y por eso sale el error. Yo he convivido con el error 70000 km y nunca ha pasado nada adicional. Simplemente me decidí a repararlo porque es un mensaje de error molesto. Saludos

En mi caso solo afecta al star-stop. Deja de funcionar y cuando en el taller borran los fallos vuelva a funcionar hasta que después de un tiempo deja de funcionar por el fallo de la palanca

Hi. I think that it is not strictly necessary to fix this. This is an error message generated due to a microswitch failure so the car doesn't know in wich position the gear lever is. But it can not damage the gearbox, as it is only an error message. This message disturbs but it will not damage the gearbox itself

Hola Luis Miguel !. La reparación la hice en mi Golf, que es también de 2015 con un cambio DSG de 6 marchas + MA. Yo creo que la reparación también aplica a tu León Mk3 ya que comparte casi todo con el Golf y otros modelos del Grupo VAG. ¿Tu León es también DSG de 6 marchas? . Levanta la tapa que está bajo la palanca para verificar que el plástico es negro, como muestro en el vídeo. Si el plástico es blanco no aplica mi vídeo. El recambio lo compré en VW Alemania , era económico y me lo enviaron muy rápido. Puse el enlace de la compra en un post anterior. Ahora te lo vuelvo a reproducir. Mucha suerte y un saludo

Eso la verdad que no lo sé. Tienes varias opciones. 1 dejarlo como está con el fallo. 2 poner el dispositivo, que es lo que hice yo. Es un dispositivo que se compra en la propia VW. 3 Llevar el vehículo a VW para que te lo reparen. Mucha suerte. Un saludo

Hallo Norbert. I don't understand German languaje. I wonder if you ask me if this repair will work on a Seat 2016 290 ps , isn't it? I check it and worked on a VW Golf GTE 204 ps 150 kW equipped with DSG 6 gearbox. Does your Seat have a DSG 6 ? If so, may be the same gearbox as mine since torque of both cars are around 400 Nm. So may be it fix the problem as well on you Seat. But i'm not 100% sure. Good lucky !

Ive had this message appear intermittantly for 3years (golf mk7), more recently ive had an issue one morning where ive had error gearbox, an hour later it worked, error was U010300 lost communication with gear shift module. Do you think this fix could fix all my problems?

Hi Mike. I don't know for sure if this fix will solve all of your gearbox problems, but at least will solve the one i solved. It was in a Golf mk7 GTE with a Dsg 6 + R gearbox. Good luck !

Hi Eq LLMase, if the A3 of your friend has a DSG 6 speed gearbox, and the car is from 2015 or 2016, i i think it may fit. Please, before to buy the spare part, remove first the plastic cover below the gearbox stick and check if the sub-frame is black. It it is black, i think it will works. If it's withe no. the number of the VW spare part is on the video. I put in some posts the link to buy it online at VW Germany. Good luck !

Hola. No, no tengo vídeo de la tapa blanca. Lo siento. Es que mi Golf lleva tapa negra. Hay un vídeo publicado en You Tube que explica el caso para los coches que tienen tapa blanca. Saludos

Hi C. Daniel, maybe, but not completely sure. Which engine and DSG gearbox have your Polo ? (mine is a Golf GTE 1.4 hybrid petrol DSG 6 , year 2015)

Hi, this may works. Mine is a Golf GTE with a 6+R DSG auto gearbox. If your A3 has a 6+R DSG auto gearbox it will work. Good luck

Hola Alonso. Compré la pieza en la tienda online de VW Alemania. El coste de la pieza más el transporte fueron 51,46 Eur. La website es www.online-teile.com/volkswagen-ersatzteile/ . El número de la pieza aparece mostrado en mi vídeo. Mucha suerte. Saludos

@@cristophercariola7312 Hi Cristopher. Mine was a Golf GTE 1.4 Hybrid from 2015 with a DSG 6+R gearbox. Don't know for sure if this spare part will fix your Passat problem. If it is from around 2015 and has a DSG 6+R may be okay. If it is DSG 7 may be not. Regards

How and when did the warning message dissapear. I changed my micro switch but the message is still popping up. And when I scan it there is no fault codes

Hi. The warning message dissapered just inmediatly after the microswitch was installed. Check cable connection and if the lever stick pushes the little microswitch button. Good luck

@@XBRFDT yes now the message is gone :). There was a fault code and apparently I had to solve that fault code first and then the message would stop appearing on the screen.
