I am pretty sure that it was designed to run without any grease at all. It will just pick up the dust like a magnet, and will make a sand paper slurry. Its a lot easier to blow it clean once in a while. Thanks for the video!

Always fun to have an in dept look into a somewhat rare specialized tool. It seems to me like the brushed DC motor is the indeed the weakest link in a tool like this. Looks like Makita has also given the motor not enough cutouts in the housing for the fan to cool it properly. They must have done that in the effort of minimizing dust intrusion.

Wow never seen that thing before. I just use a utility knife for drywal. Much less dust. Nice job Dean. Pretty cool tool.

For a Makita tool that's only going to be used by the trades, it seems a little chintzy. I would have expected a brushless motor and better dust filtering for the tool cooling.

See them alot through work, the dust is the killer every time. The dust box really needs to have forced extraction on it at all times to pull the dust away more.

This tool is a little spendy but what keeps me from buying it is the price of the blades. I still want one.

I have one of these tools its awesome with the vacuum plugged into it gamechanger having no plasterboard dust ,yes the blades are expensive but you can also use 20mm snapoff blades in it which work well for fraction of the cost,only thing to watch is letting the 2 blade clamping screws get full of dust

I think that Dry Wall is basically Plasterboard so it is an Americanism if that is the case.
@bladeoflucatiel14 күн бұрын
Its an international channel at this point. "Dry wall" should be unterstandable by everyone. Some americans even call it "sheetrock" which is a brand.

Yank here, sheetrock back home in US, but gyprock (from gypsum) here in AUS. Drywall should be universal.

@jasonbuckler190 I've only ever heard it being called plasterboard during my 40 years in the building industry in Victoria. Gyprock has always just been the name of a manufacturer and supplier of plasterboard products and consumables.

Those DC motors are reason why staple gun and brad nailgun are so bad for Makita. For XGT they have replaced it with a proper brushless one and it is a beast now.
