Repairing a Makita DSP600 Plunge Saw that is stiff and sticking.

Plunge saws can, over time, become stiff and not plunge or retract the blade correctly.
This can result in a dangerous situation if the blade does not fully retract again.
Normally, they can become stiff from general wear and tear, but if the locking bolt comes loose, this will cause more wear and lead to it stiffening uo faster.
This js a risky repair, as the pin will be stiff, and if the bolt had gouged the pin, it will be even more difficult to remove.
One mistake and the aluminium house can snap.
Luckily, this one came out easily. If not, the motor will need to be stipped down and heat applied to the aluminium.

Nice work yet again. Your approach to repair is admirable. The amount of people that are going to attempt what you make look easy is garn leave a lot of tools in pieces for a long time. Not for the faint of heart - throws Screws everywhere and still finishes in less than 20 minutes. Legend.

Had this same problem on the sp6000 after 18 months. once the pin was changed it hasn't let me down in over 5 years. & that tool gets proper abused.

A second set of hands to hold the saw steady. Balance it in a metal tube over the pin housing. And use a blow torch, punch and hammer to beat it out. Or if you have a big enough vice you could use the vice as a press

That is the toughbuilt utility scraper. very useful knive for me.

I know so many people with this problem. Does not happen to Orher saws, Festool, Mafell, Milwaukee. This should be a product recall. Ridiculous that this type of saw should do this.
