In this video I repair a Numatic Henry (HVR200) motor, this style of motor fits a wide range of Numatic vacuum cleaners and it's easy to find cheap clone replacements. The original motor for the machine is 1000W whereas this replacement is 1400W.
The problem turned out to simply be a failed brush but I dismantled the whole motor and tested it to be sure everything was working as expected and I ran it up on a DC power supply at low power as a final check.

Great video! I really like the twinflo motors as they are powerful, quiet and reliable. As my fellow collector friend numatic collector said, the 87-95 motors were the most reliable. With the genuine hepa flo bags Henry will really last forever!

Thanks for this video. However I wasn't able to see what you were checking exactly cause wasn't explained and camera didn't catch it. Also there is no schema or overview how to plug battery to test it.

There's a little locking tab in the centre of those crimp terminals, a pin or an awl can push it back to the open position and they slip straight off.

Thanks, next time I'm in there I'll make sure to look for that.

Hi, it was nice to see your video. I got a question please about motor wiring. Is that motor has + wire and - wire? or does not it matter? because on the motor itself there was no mention of which side is + or -. Or even a wiring diagram .kind regards

Mine is still going strong after a motor replacement. I really don't treat mine well either. It lives in the workshop and sucks up all manner of things I don't want to touch.

Weird, my brush did the same thing. $10 or so part and it’s up and running.

Possibly a bearing has failed. Check to see if it's getting unusually hot after running for a while. The whole unit comes as one piece though so you'll have to replace the lot if there is a problem.

The turbine unit, what are you talking about? It is a vacuum motor, it obviously comes complete with the fans, lol.

he's correct. An electric motor and a turbine are different engineering entities. This distinction in important if you want to do some actual work on the unit (otherwise you are just a consumer)

Definitely need to replace both brushes at the same time to stop uneven water damage

Thanks, I've replaced both brushes. The old brush was virtually brand new but as I had a matched pair of new brushes it was sill not to spend a couple of minutes extra replacing both.

Typical brush jam problem.Thats a Pattern part non original motor though

Spot on, the original motor burnt out after about 4 years of heavy use. The windings failed on the rotor. As I'm sure you know a genuine motor is often more than a new machine so it only makes sense to replace it with a copy.

Wobblycogs Workshop True.I found that the Henry motors from 1987 to 95 were the best, they use them ones in the majority of dust extractors

Wobblycogs Workshop Windings failing is kinda common.A fault you see every now and then.Do always keep spare windings about for mine lol.Have had brushes go more often.

Wow, you really know your Numatic vacuum cleaners. I wonder if you could help me, we also have a George wet and dry but the cleaning spray has stopped working. I'm guessing it's the switch on Georges head but I've not had it apart yet to check. Do you have any ideas?

Wobblycogs Workshop Thanks.Ive had the same problem with my george machine. It could be the switch or the pump has like scale and the jets are blocked. The problem on mine was that the diode that haves the wavelength was faulty. They hide this diode in some yellow sheating.
