The OPI Repair Mode does work to 'bond' the peeling part of the nail. It also makes the nails a little harder. I've used it on my peeling nails until they grew out. It may not be the miracle that some claim, but it DOES work.

I tried OPI repair mode and was quiet impressed. Not only did it close all of the other smaller „problems“ it closed two deep splits I had in my right thumb and helped me to finally grow it out. But I would love a more chemical explanation, from what I googled about the Ingredients it seems it is almost like a plastic glue to fill/bond any area with gaps, this can especially be observed after the 6-day treatment as all other healthy areas of the nails appeared very smooth.

I have thin and bendi nails that are very prone to surface damage. My nails peel under dazzle dry. I noticed when I started using the opi product it helps to keep the surface damage under control. The last time I applied it the night before my DD manicure, and when I took the polish off the nails looked good. Some didn't even have any surface damage.

Thank you so much for your comment! Ingrown nails are a big topic. True ingrown nails where nail pierces the skin is not something we treat in the salon. We refer to pedologist. Involuted nails (very curved nails) or build up of skin on the side of the nails or just a build up of cells around the side wall of the nail can be something I can help with. How to prevent it? They can be caused by various things so impossible to say without going into detail. Even fungal infection can thicken the nail curving it more. Genetics too. Improper cutting of the nails. Wrong shoes.... the list goes on :)

Thank you very much for your answer, i already imagined there is no easy one-solves-it-all answer 😅 My second toes are longer than my big toes and theyr nails are very curved (not yet really ingrown), maybe due to pressure of shoes (allthough i don‘t wear high heels etc) Anyways, I‘ll go and see a Podologist 🙂 Thanks again 💐

Definitely, I want to see. She has beautiful hands. I've completed the 6 day OPI Rescue treatment 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure that it has helped. I do think the warm jojoba oil soaks, and oil after washing hands with the addition of nudging cuticle/PNF back and Keraseal ointment at night have been beneficial. A manicurist I visit often was appreciative of the progress of nails, PNF and heels of feet. She provides dry mani/pedis and uses the Dazzle Dry system.(I didn't know as I always take my own polish.). I have nails that are a little weak with ridges. I'm nursing 2 nails with splits -super short w/a touch of glue ever few days. Unfortunately-I did not take before pictures. My personal Dazzle Dry system arrived and am looking forward to using it.

OPI Repair Mode works on my thin, flexible, and peeling from water damage nails. I have the issue of leaving my polish on too long, and not recognizing the underlying damage accumulating because the surface still looks nice. I am getting better at removing my DD polish after 6 days. I do not use the OPI once the damage has grown out and been filed away.

Today, finally, i was able to find and buy IBX, so my question is the following: do i just start IBX over the OPI repair mode OR should i pass a acetone wipe over my nails before I use the IBX OR is there another procedure you can suggest please. Hello Anna. Your client’s nails looked so much healthier by the end of your manicure. It’s so soothing to watch you work. Have you heard of Nailberry? Whenever I type in Dazzle Dry here in the U.K., Nailberry pops up. Do you know anything about it and if it’s linked to the Dazzle Dry brand?

Hello Nina! No, Nailberry is a totally different brand. I would say standard nail polish looking at the ingredients (plus some marketing ingredients) Just look at the ingredients. First 5-6 ingredients. Standard nail polish. BUTYL ACETATE, ETHYL ACETATE, NITROCELLULOSE, ACETYL TRIBUTYL CITRATE, ADIPIC ACID/NEOPENTYL GLYCOL/TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE, ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM),

I think I’m going to try alternating between the CND Rescue RX and the OPI Repair mode. The OPI definitely has helped my nails but I feel like my nails are dry after applying. The CND seems to leave my nails more moisturized. So, maybe one week OPI and then one week CND?

I use OPI repair mode and I like it, I have some flaking on my non dominant hand from using the imitation gel polish like the Essie couture and the infinite shine, repair mode helps keep the flakes down. I try file the nail with the flakes down past the flake if I can, and I don’t use repair mode for the recommended 6 days. I’ll do three days and use oil then paint them again….which is why I’m not getting the full results I’m curious does anyone else have breaks and chipping on their non dominant hand 🤚 and then their dominant hand has perfect nails? I’m left handed and my nails on my left hand are perfect but my right hand is knackered
@kjones2008
@kjones2008 11 ай бұрын
Only when I damage my dominant arm, and have to switch daily activities to my non-dominant hand. With my nails, it is very obvious which side is doing the work. I wonder if your dominant side nails are thicker/stronger in response to the force/use of your dominant side versus non-dominant? I remember looking at a climbers hands once upon a time, both fingers and nails were remarkably thick.

I’ve been using a 16-free gel nail system and getting great growth and my nails were looking so good. My nail tech offered an IBX treatment on a few of my weaker nails and I developed an allergy to the IBX. My dermatologist gave me some cream for my fingertips, they felt like they had been burned and the cuticles swollen. I’m wondering if I can continue to use my gel polish once my affected nails and fingers have healed. It’s probably going to take a few months to heal though.

Hello Karen! This is difficult, I have no idea which ingredient/s you got allergic (overexposed) to. 16 free means nothing, marketing. It's usually free of 16 ingredients gels don't have anyway. Let me guess, like formaldehyde, acetone, parabens etc... ;)

I have thin, peeling nails, and have tried all of your helpful recommendations. Now that my nails are a bit healthier, I'd like to try a gel polish manicure every 6-8 weeks or so (I had a bit of a collection before switching completely to DD). However, I know that I cannot and do not want to risk buffing the nails so that the gel will adhere. Therefore, do you recommend a bonder instead of buffing for those of us with thinner (but healthy) nails? I'm scared of the answer. 😁 Thank you!
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 11 ай бұрын
Well, I always recommend using a full line so I can't recommend a random bonder that doesn't go with the system :) Also as you can see from the previous video it's not the buffing that damaged her nails but the wear of gel polish. Also bonders sometimes make the product stick so well that it's very difficult to remove the product. It's like looking for a hair color that will lighten the hair a lot but doesn't contain high % peroxide or bleach. High % peroxide or bleach will always cause some damage. Not to mention if you are not specifically trained with gel polish, risking allergic reactions which are permanent.

I know, DD is not readily available but at least you know why the nails are yellowing. The yellowing is quite deep and in order to remove the layers that might be damaged or oxidised you are just removing layers of the nails. I don't recommend it. Some yellowing might fade when you stop wearing polish. Some. Non of the DIY ways of removing yellowing with baking soda, lemon juice work. They can further damage your nails.

There are pros and cons of everything in life. Shellac is great but it can cause surface damage on some people. I'm not poo pooing on Shellac just showing the reality of my work in the salon. I love using glass nail files. Any opinion on that?
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife 5 ай бұрын
They are good too. Any file that works for you is good. It’s a preference thing. I prefer thinner files like the Soft Touch emery boards for personal use or Erica Diamond file for professional use. For professional use I find the glass files very difficult to clean. Even after scrubbing and soaking in disinfectant they *look like they still have some nails left on the surface which is unacceptable in a salon setting.

As a licensed Manicurist, how do you not have skin issues touching acetone? I wear gloves and sometimes it goes through and I get overexposure on my thumb and index finger.
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife Жыл бұрын
Hi Amanda, what do you mean you get overexposure? Usually it's not the acetone (which is drying but it's not allergenic) but what acetone dissolves. Are you using gel polish on your clients?

No, it's in the nail, not on top of the nail.

I totally believe you, Anna, but I am curious why putting 1-2 coats of a color, even a sheer, would be less gentle. I wouldn’t have thought that there would have been a difference between wearing base and top or base color and top. The clients nails grow really quickly! The warm climate there helps, but still….Wow! Her nails are lovely!

I think coats add up. I see more damage when people wear multiple coats especially with DD Transform. I have a feeling that 1 coat of polish allows some oil to pass through. Dazzle Dry base coat dries to nothing really. These 2 coats are extremely thin and don't contain nitrocellulose. Also DD base coat is quite flexible and it flexes with the nail as the nail swells with water and then dries up. According to dr. Vivian Valenty. I have seem more damage when people prone to surface damage wore 2 coats of normal polish (like 2 layers of base) vs. DD base and top that they are wearing now. Now they have healthier nails, more shiny. After regular polish they were more dull and gritty. I notice these changes on clients that come every 2 weeks and I do the same type of manicure.

We understand what happened after watching the first video. At least I do. You tried to save her cracked nails because the cracks were high up and needed to grow out to avoid pain. So, seeing the chipped off color on those particular nails isn’t surprising.

Shellac, though it's an awesome product, absolutely shreds my nails. I can wear it one time for 2 weeks and it stays on. As soon as I remove it and put it on again, my nails start to delaminate and peel and the shellac lifts. So, I can wear shellac for 2 weeks, then spend a few months healing my nails and wear it again for 2 weeks and so on and so one. No thanks. Trying dazzle dry now.

@@pama3571Yes! I'm going to be doing this combination too. Tried DD base coat alone and like Anna said here it needs the top coat to keep it on the nail. Ordering OPI repair mode. Hope it works for us!

Why did you shorten all the nails EXCEPT for the broken ones? Seems opposite.
@TheSalonLife
@TheSalonLife Жыл бұрын
I shortened all of the nails. Maybe it looks this way because I applied some adhesive so while the adhesive was drying I moved to the other nails but then I went back to the cracked ones....

@@TheSalonLife made my nail even more dry and brittle.
@adaorange
@adaorange Жыл бұрын
For me it made my thumb nails brittle- but my thumb nails weren’t that weak to begin with….so I came to the conclusion that truly normal healthy nails don’t benefit from it, but actually thin weak bendy nails will. For me, all my nails are weak thin and bendy except my thumbs. So my finger nails benefited but my thumb nails became brittle and got surface damage.
