Repairing my Thermo King TriPac

Developed a squeak. Sounded like a lose belt until I got near it. Then the squeak seemed to be coming from the Clutch brake on Compressor. So..... Lets replace it all. Thermo King TriPac tier 2. Year: 2012.
New A/C Compressor, new belt, new Filter Drier, new refrigerant. She’s blowing at 42 degrees at 85 deg. ambient. I’m happy happy happy 😃

Priceless knowledge to have. Most people wouldn't know what an expansion valve or a dryer or vacuum pump even is. I like your videos so far and I like your style. Be safe out there Sammy and thanks.

Sammy I am impressed. You sound pretty versed in air conditioning and Refrigeration. I worked on that stuff for years. You're doing all the right things brother👍

Raymond Bradley well I have a confession lol I had to google some quick links on how to go by gauges for how much refrigerant to add. But, I got my degree in HVAC/R back in 09-12. Then bought a truck 😂😂

Sammy!! Love your channel bro. Used to be TK master tech now truck driver learning from you on starting my own gig. Any info on the tripac u need holler at me. I've installed hundreds of these and repaired hundreds more. Looks like you have the best updated compressor mount. Check the top of dryer sight glass for bubbles when a/c is on. Add freon till sight glass is clear no more than 2lbs of freon in system, The belt is easy to adjust with a pry bar and ratchet-socket. Need about 1/2inch deflection on belt when tight. The switch on the dryer is high pressure cut-out Low pressure is in the evaporator box good luck.

I appreciate the video. I learned a thing or two from watching it. Thank you! But.....I struggled to hear it. Volume was low. Had to rewind and play a couple of times. If I hadn't, I probably would have ported my engine exhaust in or something. (I'm kidding!) Video quality is great, content Awesome, knowledge impeccable, volume not so much.

Nice work man Hope the 4th was good to you I’m looking into having all of my authority and dot / ifta paperwork done by DAT ??? About $800 to do so is that a good idea? Also should I buy a Dry Van (what year is best for budget) or should I lease a trailer? Have an insurance quote for $8900 a year if paid in full from Progressive ... should I have authority and dot set up first and will I be able to book loads on Truckers edge and Uber freight as a new venture?? Thanks so much for your knowledge ... trying to maximize this Game ...

So what are the brackets? Shop said one of my brackets on my apu is bent, but didn't say which one, its causing the apu to sling my belts off. I can start it and watch the belt walk right off the compressor pulley. I think it's the arm or whatever that goes from the alternator to the compressor, but I am not certain without seeing what the shop is talking about.

Please help, SB 330 - SR3 - holds 32 degrees PERFECT, but when I set to 33* it always holds it around 35 to 37 degrees

This is why I don't have an APU .. when I was company flatbedder, they had APUs .. now they are ditching them advising drivers to just idle .. apparently cheaper in the long run .. I have invertor with space heater and fan plugged in for the appropriate season .. no down time or maintainance ..

If you have an Emissions Truck, don't idle.They wont run hot enough to burn off the soot contaminates in your system. If preemissons, then its just Gallon of fuel per hr idling Vs. 1 gallon per 8 hr with apu. They advise to idle because they will turn them in around 400k and leave the sooted up systems be the next owners problem lol

I agree with MakeCents. Or if you do have to idle, pre-emission or emissions, definitely turn the cruise on to bump the idle RPM's and leave the engine fan on the entire time. You can ask Sammy, I rarely ever idle, I'll just sweat it out with my little fan but if I do, my Caterpillar idles at 700. If I plan to idle it for my 10 hour, I bump the RPM up to at least 800 or so, engine fan and that's the end of it lol added bonus for me is doing that, generally means less chance of having neighbors due to how obnoxious my truck is idling lol

42* on the Tripac vent. Haven't measured truck vents. I went to 36 Oz. I'm not sure, they have a spec to go by. But I went solely off gauge pressures.

I have a question. I really have been wanting to get in to being an owner operator. I have nearly one year of company driving so far clean record. I want to start a lease on a truck and then jump on landstar. Where and how would i start on that? I really enjoy driving and would invest the money i make in to paying off my truck asap on my first year. Hoping to get a kenworth or peter

i cant remember, i went off guages and it's diff depending on the ambient temp out side. . Do a google search on how to add refrigerant by guages. Thats what i always do because i dont do it enough to remember lol

I've always worked on things. Even as a kid I would take things apart just see how it worked and put it back together. But for Ac, I got a degree in hvac/R so thats how I know ac stuff

lol I keep on I'll have her 100% refurbished :):) I have to run the coolant lines next and tie them into Trucks coolant then I'll be done. Someone set it up as a closed loop system so I want it to warm the engine block for winters

MakeCents thanks for answering my question. I only ask because I have been following the "Truckloads" load board on truckerpath for about 2 months. I check it every day...all day long. In that time the rates have been booming. Now after the tariffs last week the rates didn't seem the same. Now u know it might be different on the DAT Board becaise i don't have access to it so that was the reason for my question, I was wondering if you had seen it or not. I was seeing a lot of loads with coyote logistics and choptank transport paying the best during that time. Choptank has been putting out the dollars. Do you ever broker loads with them?
